I agree. In Dinesh D’Souza’s “Trump Card”, he speaks with a hispanic conservative who lays it out quite well.

Thanks for your perspective and your input.

We are seeing very encouraging signs of an awakening amongst our minority populations. Slowly they are rubbing their eyes and starting to walk off the plantation.

This is a process and it is going to take time. They are not going to sound like a 2009 Tea Party rally overnight.

Going pedal-to-the-metal to press them for ideological orthodoxy would be a HUGE mistake IMHO.

It’s a powerful message when you have these older non-violent criminals rotting in Federal prisons while Democrats refuse to prosecute mutants who are burning black-owned businesses to the ground.

I can’t help but notice all three young men have their pants up. If I owned a business and needed workers, I’d invite any of them in for an interview in a heartbeat.

You mean you don't like the Saggy Pants fashion of today?

Trump almost doubled his approval rating amongst blacks in the last 5 days? That's really just some bad polling.

But Trump is doing quite well with blacks, comparative to most Republicans.

I just don’t think hispanics are all that interested in the liberal agenda pushed by a bunch of mostly white political elites. They want jobs, personal safety and a good economy. They see that Trump has delivered.

Maybe not. I suspect the recent public support of Trump from black entertainers has made a lot of blacks less shy about what they tell pollsters.

I heard passion in Trump’s voice when talking about the blacks so I’m not surprised at the jump in approval. He listed his contributions toward the black community and there was this passion in his voice that I rarely see. It’s like pride mixed with compassion and concern.

The only other time in the debate that Trump’s voice changed is when Biden was fizzling out and Trump’s heard that and his voice became melodious, smooth and very confident.

Biden jails Black men for minor drug offenses and calls them super predators, that can’t be good for his campaign

Way back in 1998, I did something I seldom do. I tried to analyze the political spectrum and determine if there was some place, some subject, to which I could apply my talents and some money.

The outcome was that I must somehow affect demonstrably the black voting block and secondly to go after the media.

Serendipity took hold.

I learned of a few Freepers who were hot to go after the media. We joined up and formed the Free Republic Media Chapter. there were 500 registered Media Chapter Freepers and we worked mightily. The primary outcome was to raise awareness of the media as our real enemy. However, we barely made a dent in their armour.

Now comes Donald Trump, President of the United States. He has severely damaged both the black voting block and the everpresent American enemy that is the mainstream media.

He has achieved what I sought to affect so long ago with almost no meaningful results

I’m not sure what the final numbers will be, but I’m pretty sure that black support for Trump didn’t suddenly double in the last 4 days.

I am SO happy that Al Gore invented the Internet!

It has allowed so much truth to circumvent the old Big News outlets, allowed black Americans to learn so much truth about Democrats and their lies.

If it is even half that Biden is toast. But I also now fully expect another cop shooting riot to come before election day. Very predictable how the democrat media rent a mob complex operates. The last time Trump polls looked good with blacks we got the George Floyd thing. I predicted that too as I am sure many did.

I heard an ad that Trump was running on our local black radio station and it was devastating! An announcer who sounded like Shaft was blasting away at Biden and the Democrats for 47 years of undelivered promises. “I’m Donald J. Trump, and I approve this message!”

I see it a bit differently than you do, rintintin.

From what I can tell (and I have read about ten of Sowell's books and watched a lot of interviews with him) Sowell is all about personal responsibility, but I am not convinced he would be against what Trump has put into effect.

As another poster said, Trump isn't for releasing violent felons (which the Left CLEARLY favors, with disastrous results that should be hung around their necks, sometimes with a rope as far as I am concerned in these cases) as this text from the First Step Act describes:

"...Offenses that make inmates ineligible to earn time credits are generally categorized as violent, or involve terrorism, espionage, human trafficking, sex and sexual exploitation; additionally excluded offenses are a repeat felon in possession of firearm, or high-level drug offenses. For more details, refer to the complete list of disqualifying offenses..."

This means that his criminal reform excludes people convicted of violent crime, which in the FBI/DOJ jargon means Homicide, Rape, Aggravated Assault, and Armed Robbery.

So those criminals aren't getting any reductions outright. For all I know there may be other pathways to release I am unaware of.

I do agree with you that I see Ivanka in some of it. I don't like it either, but in the end, Trump is, I think, his own person and makes his own choices on these things, sometimes against the advice of his team.

Some people don't like that, but I do. It eliminates some of the stink of politicians who have to have every phrase tested and every current of wind checked.

“If the left woulda actually done a few things over the years to help the black community they might not be in this mess. The total disregard and taking them for granted is astounding.”

When you understand the nature of the Left (of ALL Collectivists, of whichever of the numerous parties all over the false “Left-Right” political spectrum), this is not in the least bit surprising. The Collectivists are interested in one thing, and one thing ONLY: acquiring, expanding and utilizing their power over everyone else. They routinely, and as a purposeful matter of strategy, lie to and use various groups in order to achieve their goals. Oh, they bleat about caring, etc., but they don’t - not in the least. They only say what they do in order to gain power, PERIOD.

As a perfect example, if they cared so much about blue collar workers (traditionally one of the most loyal Democrat-supporting groups out there, for many decades), why would they let in millions of immigrants how would compete with the blue collar workers for lesser-skilled jobs? Why would they allow or encourage the destruction of our manufacturing base to China and other places overseas? Ditto (to an even higher degree) with the black community; how many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of blacks lost jobs (or never had a chance for a job, because it didn’t exist by the time they entered the workforce) due to the massive immigration over the last 50 years that was (plainly to anyone with eyes and a functioning brain) intended to change the electorate and thus dilute the votes of EVERY citizen of this country? But that’s what you do if you’re a Collectivist; you know that you have successfully brainwashed a large group of people into voting for you for multiple generations, and you thus take for granted that this will continue forever (thus showing your utter contempt for the ability of that group to observe events and think for themselves, by the way), and then you move on to acquire (or buy, with US tax dollars) a whole new group.

Well, thankfully, it appears that a lot of people in the black community are finally waking up to the empty words of the Democrats, finally waking up to the fact that the Dems haven’t actually done ANYTHING for them except to create a virtual plantation for them all over the country - no actual chains or whips, but actually something far more insidious, far more dangerous, far longer lasting - the warping of minds so as to have people willingly enslave themselves to them. I am very glad to finally see that many in the black community are finally waking up to the lies of the Democrats/Collectivists - it bodes well for the future of this country, and not just for them.

BTW, I am Jewish, and very much the same phenomenon is present in much of my community - but Jews are very stubborn creatures, and the change is far slower. For a group of people who are supposedly smarter than average (and I have my doubts about that, just by observing the mindset of Collectivist Jews), the Jews as a group have really allowed themselves to be snookered and taken advantage of for at least the last 75 years (since it became clear that FDR and the Dems really and truly didn’t give a rat’s ass what happened to our cousins in Europe). My true joy, if I ever live to see it, will be for a solid 30% - 40% of the Jews in this country to be solidly conservative and voting Republican (yeah, I know, I’m far more likely to go outside today and see a flock of flying pigs blot out the sun, but can’t a guy dream?).

We know he is going to be sensible about the criminal business.

People are wild about this. You want perfection?

The president has to see things your way on every issue?

You really think trump is soft on crime?

He’s calling his opponent a corrupt politician and a criminal in mic. To the world

We have him or Biden Harris. Let him drive voters away from them.

The federal prison reform bill signed in 2017 was a bi-partisan clean up of antiquated sentencing laws and viewed as rational policy by both progs and cons when it was signed. Which is why you’ll not hear of it — shows that some things can get better even with the hot sewage government we have now...

I’m not certain what the conservative value is in keeping a 53 yo lady convicted of running a crack ring (her boyfriend was) in 1988 and serving a (ridiculous) life sentence for the “narcotics trafficking”.
