I’ll find 50 to 60 sheds a year. If your not finding sheds in deer country it’s because you’re not looking for them. I’ve found elk sheds in Colorado, NM and Wyoming, found moose sheds in Manitoba and Ontario. I’ve found several hundred flint arrowheads and blades while some people never find one. Difference is I look for them. Some people are not very observant, as Gus McCray says “He ain’t much of a noticer”.

It's not a matter of noticing them. You don't hardly find sheds here because the rodents make quick work of them as soon as they hit the ground. Also, because the ground cover turns over very thick here.

I believe most of the black panther sightings are actually jaguars.

Same goes for the infamous Black Panther (Black Mountain Lion). Thousands claim to have seen one and yet not one picture of one.

There are photos of them. I have one off one of my old style game cameras that used 35mm film. We see them down here in parts of Texas. When I was a teenager, I was within 20 feet of one. They aren't "black" mountain lions. They're black jaguars. They are much bigger than cougars. They probably originated from Mexico where they are/were a native species. If you ever get close enough to one, you will see they have the black spot pattern, but it's hard to see in their coat.

They are rare to see, but not that big a deal. They are rare enough that we don't shoot at them. Now, bigfoot? That would be a find!

There’s only about 15,000 Jaguars in existence and only one known to be in the US, his name is El Jefe. He was spotted in southern Arizona and has been caught on camera many times. We’ve got one of the larger ranches here in the Permian Basin and I’ve only seen 3 Mountain Lions in the last 45 years. I’ve hunted all over the Trans Pecos area and the Big Bend region most of my life, seen several cat’s in that country. There has never been evidence of a Jaguar in TX since 1940 when the last one was on record of being killed. It was killed down in the Big Bend region. There is a another cat roaming the south Texas area and that’s a Jagarundi and due to it’s tail length many have confused it with a Mountain Lion and yes they do come in Black or at least a very dark Brown but they are less than 3 ft long and 15-20 lbs. They’re even rarer than Mountain Lions. I’m sorry but your story sounds just like all the others, no actual evidence, in fact the evidence that’s out there argues against your story. Trying to claim them to be Jaguars just makes it more unbelievable.

I have friends in East Texas who sale sheds by the pound to various markets, they even use dogs to find them. My tracking dogs Gus and Maggie have found them many times. Gus and Maggie track wounded deer, I’ve been called out 3 times so far this year tracking wounded deer and rifle season hasn’t even started yet. Gus is half Lab and half Springer Spaniel, Maggie is all Jack Russell. They’ve yet to lose a deer since they teamed up.

If you ever heard the Art Bell interview with a woman who claimed Bigfoot lived in the woods behind her and her son you would end up believing in Bigfoot.
.....................................................
Wonder if that interview is still available? I would love to hear it!

Please keep thinking that. We all know how knowledgeable armchair experts can be. Twenty years ago, they thought the same thing about cougars in east Texas. Too bad I can't post a pic here. I have a game camera pic with four cougars here.

The real Squatch has a flatter nose, receding chin, head somewhat peaked and is short-haired.

No one has a reliable photo of one of these things and no carcass of one has ever been found.

Search the Patterson film, from the 1960s. No way that's a guy in a suit.

Yep I’m an arm chair expert alright, at least I’m not on here telling lies just hoping somebody will believe them. 20 years ago we knew we had mountain lions in damn near every county in Texas but you being the expert probably already knew that. Next you’re going to say you’ve seen Chupacabra’s and swear you have pictures. Stop digging!

They work very well, close to the ground and a pretty good nose on them.

That IS a guy in a suit. I’ve seen that video a hundred times and seen it debunked a hundred times.

The problem is, even avid hunters such as yourself only get out in the woods a limited number of days per year. Myself, I live in the woods, literally. I own a 160 acre timber farm. I have one neighbor right across the county road from me, but on three other sides, I'm surrounded by thousands of acres of timberland. My road to my house from the county road is about 1/8th mile long through the woods. My road down to my shop is about 1/4 mile long through the woods. I can't go anywhere on my property without being in the woods. In the past 40 years, some of the ridiculous statements that the fish and game "experts" have told me were:

1. "You will never see feral hogs up here this far from the river." (Umm..Hmmm)

2. "There are no bears here. What you saw was a big black hog." (UhHuh.. Never mind that they have been stocking them in Louisiana 10 miles away for decades.)

3. "There are no cougars in east Texas. I don't know what that could be in that picture." (Mmmm..Yeah)

And, the icing on the cake:

4. "There are no black jaguars/panthers in Texas. I don't know what you and all those oil company personnel and timber cruisers who spend all day everyday in the woods are seeing, but it isn't that. Now, if you will excuse me while I drive back to town and kick back in my air-conditioned office. I probably won't be making the rounds this weekend. I'll be throwing a steak on the grill in my backyard and enjoying the great outdoors."

Our big ranch in Howard county is 42 sections the one in Midland county is 28 Sections, Borden county is 11 sections and Glasscock county is 14. The road going to the house is 8 miles long from the closest gate. The big ranch where our house is has been in the family for 127 years, I put just over 200 miles a day on my truck just running the ranches and taking care of oil and gas production and cattle. Just our roads alone cover well over 160 acres. I also outfit for Whitetail, Mule deer and Aoudad hunts, I’ve probably got more experience dealing with Texas wildlife both native and non-native than most of the states game biologist. I’ll be 70 next month and pretty much been at it since birth. Take your BS somewhere else.

So, you really don't spend much time in the woods. You spend a lot of time running the roads on cattle ranches. It's you who might want to park your load of BS in your own pen.
