Defending Democracy Together, NeverTrumper and Bulwark Editor-at-Large Bill Kristol’s group, is pulling out all the stops in an attempt to destroy President Donald Trump’s reelection chances.

Defending Democracy Together (DDT), which has received $1.6 million from liberal billionaire Pierre Omidyar’s Democracy Fund Voice, “has spent $11.5 million on independent expenditures opposing Trump or backing Democratic nominee Joe Biden,” according to Open Secrets. Reportedly, DDT is the “the top spending ‘dark money’ group of the 2020 election cycle so far.”

Kristol is listed by Influence Watch as DDT’s “Board Chair.” Through its project Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT), of which Kristol is “founding director,” DDT “runs an onslaught of unconventional ads featuring Republicans who plan to vote against Trump in November,” Open Secrets said.

We used to read his father Irving’s essays and some of them were quite interesting. Didn’t always agree but Irv tended to be sane at least and very intelligent too. (There are some FR folks who might jump in now and complain now that Irv was a “neo-con” but that terminology is not very persuasive imho. Yes, I disagreed with some of Daddy’s essays. And probably they are same essays, positions that these FR commentators disagreed with. So be it, I am not gonna argue about Irving. He’s deceased.) Sonny boy William is a total leftie nut case, imho, who cannot properly be called ANY kind of conservative, old or new or full or partial. He’s pure leftist insofar as I can tell. Yes that was the chief objection by some friends that Irv supported Iraq. I did too insofar as getting rid of sadism Hussein and his weapons ( many of which were removed to safety by that famous fleet of 500 Russian trucks). For whatever it’s worth, I envisioned a short action not a protracted war. Maybe I was right but it turned into the long affair that friends here objected to. So knowing how it turned out, it’s easy to criticize in retrospect. I understand that. It’s similar in some respects today to the probk m eith blood thirsty mudlim warlords in Iran. the Muslim world Has a serious sickness. Hopefully as time goes forward this danger can be cured

I served during the Vietnam war (Navy stateside, not in the weeds) and believe me, I understand how tragic it was. Towards the end of it, we all questioned the necessity of it, the justification of it, and the reporting of it. We lost many fine young men for reasons that were never fully understood or explained. Those same backbench warriors were the same ones that got so many killed. I knew a few of them personally. I have since learned to distrust most of what we were told, especially by the press.

I did not vote for Trump in 2016. The reason was that I believed the massive lies and BS that I has heard about in every election. But he surprised me. He actually meant what he said. And did it. I sure as he’ll will vote for him this time around. He is someone you never expect inside the beltway - an honest man.
