The Atlantic hit piece on President Donald Trump last week used four anonymous sources to allege that he had disparaged dead World War I soldiers two years ago. Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin then claimed to have “confirmed” parts of the story — though not its main allegation — based on two anonymous sources.
The entire story failed to meet basic journalistic standards. But it is a sign of things to come — particularly if Democrats win in November, which is the Atlantic‘s goal.
Two, or even four, anonymous sources can be used to claim absolutely anything. The Atlantic described them as “four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day.”
Notably, we are not told that they personally heard Trump say what the Atlantic alleges he said — they just have “knowledge of the discussion.” Someone who has “knowledge” of a discussion is a second-hand source, or worse. The point is there is no way to know if the sources are credible, or if the story is just made up.
It turns out that we do actually have some very good historical sources that dispute the Atlantic story. These include the 11 eyewitnesses who have gone on the record to deny the president said what the Atlantic alleged, but they also include other sources.

Billionaire stock holders, such as Laurene Powell Jobs, need a President Harris, err, President Biden, in order to continue their windfall from China.
They can’t get that with a president that stands for America.
The irony is not lost that the party that claims to stand up for the working class, stand against multi-national corporations, and stand against the oppression of workers and exploitation of labor is essentially acting as a surrogate for multi-national corporations that exploit working class laborers.
Scarier yet, they also own the corporate media that will tear down anyone who stands in their way.

The democrat party is filled with people who have no solutions to real problems. They sling mud at anyone who disagrees with them and in their way to more power.
In September 2020, an uproar arose after Griffin, citing anonymous sources, confirmed key details of an article in The Atlantic [4] that reported President Donald Trump had characterized veterans and fallen American soldiers as "losers" and "suckers." The report had been confirmed by the Associated Press and The Washington Post. Trump and several aides who were present at the time denied the report, with the president and others calling for Griffin to resign. Numerous reporters, including some from Fox News, defended Griffin's integrity. She stood by her report, characterizing her sources as "unimpeachable."[5][6][7][8]
Sad to see Jennifer Griffin caught up in this mess. Cross another 1 off the FNC line-up. Whichever Murdoch brother is still in charge at FOX, he must be proud.
But Biden and the media has taken it run with it... INCLUDING FOX. I tried to watch FOX this morning and ALL of their programming that I saw was playing clips of Biden being angry about Trumps statements about dead WWI troops being suckers and losers as if it were a true statement. Then FOX emphasized a slow recovering economy when it is faster than any one expected; jobs added and decreased unemployment. Then there was the black bald headed woman Biden campaign spokes person trashing Trump and how Biden was the only choice that could save the country.
I just flipped back to FOX now and this is what is on. Biden is still on saying Trump should apologize for his statement... Still talking about it... Real clear politics saying that the use of unnamed sources were bad and not good journalism. The Federalist guy trashes the story even thought his father in law was McCain. Then play the Bolton clip saying Trump never said anything like that. Then Jessica Tarlov Trashes Trump and says unnamed sources are valid just look at deep throat.
That's a silly take.
Multiple informed people have given this story to The Atlantic, the NYT, the WaPo, Fox News and the AP. These people may well be trying to undermine Trump but the fact that they're doing this is in itself news.
These news organizations have no choice but to report it.

Notice how this hit piece came out just when N.C. sent out 669,000 ballots. Time for Trump’s campaign to slam Biden and how he hoot Beau no show jobs in the Ukraine and China.

Similarly, Glenn Greenwald (no fan of DjT) warns that Fox's Jennifer Griffin "confirmed" nothing. Confirmed would mean she knows who the unnamed sources are, and heard the same 2nd hand knowledge from them, which she did not.
She reports she has heard some say things that compliment the meme. Terribly weak stuff.
And I maintain that a statement such as:"what did these soldiers get out of it ?"could be taken crudely; as in what a waste, or it could be taken admirably, as in selfless. I put any such accusing Trump pronouncements in the later category.
On the contrary, because a video / ad was ready and aired on MSNBC within hours it is clear this attack has been prepared for months and saved for the campaign stretch.
It would not be physically possible to assemble all the elements of the hit piece overnight and get it on MSNBC by early the next day.
More likely than not, some anti-Trump group had it in the can, but needed a reason to release it, which the Atlantic provided. It should remind us of the Russian pee-tape, which was held until Comey informed DjT of its existence and leaked to CNN giving it creditabilty and a reason to put the pee-tape in the public discussion.
The video / ad was constructed and presented to Goldberg and the Atlantic with the understanding they needed an excuse to release it. Goldberg obliged.
