[Note: This piece is heavy on video.]

Austin is destined to become the San Francisco of Texas. – Hell, it already is, in part, with homeless encampments lining the sidewalks of its downtown area and piles of homeless-generated trash and human refuse stacked under its freeway overpasses. 30 years of uninterrupted Democrat stewardship will do that to any city.

On Friday, Democrat leaders in Austin took the next step towards total destruction, “reallocating” 95 police jobs in ways that will ensure the city’s crime rate will continue to skyrocket. The move comes after a new study finds that Austin already has seen the most rapid increase in murders than any other American city this year:

So what’s Gov. Abbott doing?

Austin can’t print money.

Will Texas cut off the spigot?

It would be one thing if this wasn’t the State Capital were talking about. Come on! Not enough conservatives in Austin to elect a real mayor?

It occasionally becomes necessary for me to travel to Austin in order to use the airport, and I did so a couple of weeks ago. In order to avoid the typical Austin snarled freeways, my Uber driver took some side roads that went under a large freeway interchange near the airport. With its large expanse of concrete “roofs” this had become a “camping” area for the homeless, along with their tents, bags, grocery store carts and other debris.

There was another traffic snarl there, caused by fire trucks. There were a number of smoldering groups of grocery carts! I guess when there are no liquor or electronic gear stores to loot and burn, it’s still necessary to burn your neighbor’s grocery carts.

Austinites strive to “Keep Austin Weird”. They’re doing a very good job of it.

I asked a friend of mine if she had ever been to a nude beach, she said “yes in hippie hollow, down in Austin”
She went on and one about some Adonis like guy with flowing golden hair... I said “Venus, he was gay” :)

.....Good question.... there is absolutely NO love lost between Gov. Abbot and Austin’s far, far left mayor, Stephen Adler.... I would almost go so far as to say they viscerally hate each other....Austin’s city council is also very far left, so expect to see more cuts in the Austin police force down the road...150 currently vacant APD positions are now eliminated, and the new class of APD recruits has been cancelled...

Regardless of how weird Austin is, I suggest everyone in TX to go visit the capitol, it is bigger and better than the one in DC

Austin has always been a bastion of liberalism surrounded by conservative Texas.

This salient point is the cause of their downfall. They have descended into the depths of democRATic destruction and disaster.

It will continue to get worse. Once the "virus" of mentally unstable progressivism and Marxism take hold, the patient is almost surely going to die.

Austin in dying from it's own self-inflicted disease.

It is a good visit...

Did notice that they redid the capital and in the hallway they had pictures of the contractors and the people who did the work....

Not the picture of some politican getting the money for it...

It is humbling to stand on the floor in the congress or senate and think of the great men who stood there.

Sometimes I think we need Austin to be there to remind the rest of us in Texas how NOT to run a city.

I used to think the old hippies would eventually die out, and Austin would get back to normal. But, what happened was as the old hippies died out, the young, stupid liberal Californians came to take their place. Even a dog won’t crap where he sleeps.

It’s all those dang Californy folks’ fault. Coming here to escape their other lib shathole.

They likely made some pretty good money, off of the sale of their CA home, and housing $$ is no object.

...just wait...! several thousand new jobs are coming to the greater Austin area, so traffic - already bad - will get worse and housing prices will continue to soar...one of our neighbors is a realtor..... told us houses are selling fast and there is a very low inventory...expect it to become a seller’s market, if it already isn’t....

I’ve said for years that Austin is the liberal mecca - but with lower taxes and worse weather.

Both are hilly though Nashville is more hills and hollows and Austin more western

Both surrounded by more conservative counties

Davidson ..Nashville is 27% black

Travis ...Austin is 8% Black

Austin went 66% Hillary

Nashville went 61%

Boulder went 71% Hillary and is less than one percent black

Keeping it weird would be nice. Making it a cesspool is what’s happening.
