OAKLAND - Gov. Gavin Newsom has endorsed George Gascón to be Los Angeles next district attorney in a major boost to the progressive challenger.
Gascón, a former San Francisco district attorney, is mounting a challenge from the left to incumbent Los Angeles DA Jackie Lacey. The race has national implications for an ascendant movement of progressive prosecutors like Gascón, and Newsom laid down an important marker on where he stands in that debate.
**SNIP**
While Newsom's long-standing relationship with Gascón does help explain his support, it also follows several prominent California Democrats endorsing Gascón or disavowing Lacey after George Floyds death galvanized activists for law enforcement change. Lacey is the clear choice of law enforcement groups like police unions, which have spent heavily on her behalf.
Harris has already endorsed Gascón, as has Rep. Maxine Waters. Multiple California Democrats who previously backed Lacey have either backed away or endorsed Gascón outright, among them Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Rep. Adam Schiff. Gascón has also drawn the support of progressive luminaries like Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Bernie Sanders.

On July 4 of 2017, 23 days before Moore died, an escort reported Buck to authorities for drugging Black men, but nothing was done. After Moore died, Bucks apartment was searched. Law enforcement allegedly found the following items in Bucks two-bedroom apartment: 24 syringes with brown residue, five glass pipes with white residue and burn marks, a plastic straw with possible white residue, clear plastic bags with white powdery residue and a clear plastic bag with a piece of crystal-like substance.
Moores mother filed a suit earlier this year against Buck, Lacey, and one of Laceys subordinates in federal court for wrongful death and a civil rights violation pertaining to the failure to prosecute. On September 11 the judge in that case denied Motions to Dismiss filed by Buck and the County of Los Angeles the same day Doe nearly lost his life in Bucks apartment. Its rare for a plaintiff to prevail on such a motion against a prosecutor, so Lacey must have been stunned. Could that ruling have been the impetus for Laceys decision to file charges in this case and to speak so forcefully about Bucks evil and disgusting fetish?

“Progressive” means what for a DA?
Hard core anarcho-tyranny?
SoCal doesn’t want any more SFO morons, thanks all the same
George Gascon is the author of Prop. 47, which essentially changed shoplifting of up to $950 from a felony to a misdemeanor, which means you can do it every day and get just a citation. Which means the vagrants now have an easier way to support their vagrant lifestyles by stealing and selling their booty.
i’m in L A. no to Gascon - Lacey is bad but he is heading Seattle-ways. n. o.
OBVIOUSLY, Newsom is a mysogynist.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
