I know there are several more well read WW2 freepers than myself. I've just started reading into the Goring suicide. Anything missed?

He died on the eve of his scheduled execution. So he met Beelzebub twelve hours earlier than scheduled. The same end was accomplished — the monster was dispatched.

He changed his name to Pelosi and is living in DC.

Heh, heh. You’re right! That’s more plausible than suicide.

The OSS theory is by far the weakest.

Göring was supposedly a major drug-addict. He was improned by the allies for quite a while during the trial.
I’ve never heard that he suffered withdrawal symptoms.
OR that there were Allied doctors supplying him with his ‘fix’ to keep him able to be properly in his War Crimes Trial...

Somewhere I read that it was thought that a sympathetic guard smuggled him the cyanide. Who knows? He still died in prison, the criminal.

He “woke up” after death and heard the devil say, “I’ve been expecting you.”

I’ve read that he prepared for such an eventuality by having it secreted inside of a dental crown.

Is he the one who had an American nephew who flew bombing raids on Germany during WWII?

I read about 50 years back the poison was behind a jewel in his wedding ring. Lord only knows...

HG had put himself through cold turkey withdrawal in late ‘44. When he surrendered he was wearing a Luftwaffe enlisted man's uniform with his Reichsmarshal rank sewed on the shoulder straps. He was an evil man or perhaps as one Jew who knew his family said ‘He was a man with a powerful ego and strong intelligence who unfortunately for him and the world sold himself to Satan”.

A colleague, who had Croatian immigrant parents, asserted the Allies should have strung up his body on the scaffold anyway.

Goëring was a genuine WW1 war hero and more of a bon vivant live large kind of guy rather than a Himmler type. Pelosi lacks his compassion.

Goering turned himself in, foolishly thinking the Allies would use him to help run Germany post-war.
I still want to know why Speer wasn’t hanged.

The same end was accomplished Somewhat disagree. Goring asked for firing squad. He was denied. For an officer, a hanging is a disgrace while firing squad noble. He was given hanging, the most appropriate means of death.
This was also true of Major Andre back in the day. He asked for firing squad, and was denied by Washington. In that case, there was no cyanide.

He was addicted to morphine for years, but went off it during his imprisonment. During the trial he was argumentative and alert and had lost a great deal of weight. Probably the best he’d felt since the 1920s, just before (sort of) cheating the hangman. They strung up his corpse anyway.
