I am sure they will NOT stay home if they are given money.
Plus, some people will make sure they test positive every 2 weeks and get endless payments.
The people who thought this up are either beyond stupid or there’s something else going on.

Heck, with the track record of false positives, that’s an easy call.

If you want more of something, subsidize it. They must want more Wuhan.

You know, you have a point, now that I think of it.

With all the money we are spending on coronavirus relief programs and the hit to the economy, a few more trillion here and there, to paraphrase Hillary, “What difference at this point does it make, anyway?”

Maybe we should just pay people to get it and get it all over with.

It is going to be interesting to see the numbers of coronavirus “cases” in Alameda.

Obviously mask-wearing and social distancing didn’t work so well there, we will be able to say in a few weeks.

CA Public Health Director Tenders Late-Night Resignation After “Glitch” Delays 300,000 Test Results
RedState ^ | August 10, 2020 | Jennifer Van Laar
Posted on 8/10/2020, 2:32:50 PM by CheshireTheCat

California Department of Public Health Director Dr. Sonia Angell announced her resignation, effective immediately, around 10 PM Pacific time Sunday night – the second high-ranking state official to resign in that manner in a week. She did not give a reason, but the revelation that a “glitch” resulted in a backlog of 300,000 test results and the complete breakdown of the California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE) might have something to do with it...

In the bigger picture, this might actually make economic sense, as long as the people who deliberarely acquire it die reasonably quicky and without heroic insurance/taxpayer expense or spreading it to others, particularly if they are young AND stupid.

Not neccessarily. The government in California wants to force COVID-19 to remain an active threat just to force shutdowns forever.

$1250 + unemployment check + unemployment bonus check + no more having to worry about being locked down because you’ve crossed over.

“I don’t live in Alameda County - wrong side of the Bay. But if someone offered me $1250 to catch COVID-19, I’d sign up. Working from home anyway.”

I just notified a younger relative who has just returned to his supposed sophomore year in college.

His first 4 weeks are online. Stay home, drink a few cool ones, do your online stuff and make $1250.

I am surprised folks have not started the drum beats for posting who has tested positive. If this is a public health crisis, shouldn’t we know who in the public has been infected.

I’m pretty sure I’d find a positive case and ask them to sneeze on me.

Why take the modest risk? The false positive rate may be high enough that you'll score a payment if you get tested a few times. It seems that the quick test is especially unreliable.

Epoch Times has an essay contest, the deadline for which is tomorrow, I think.

The topic is “Why America is such a great country,” or something like that.

I was going to try to write something; I won some essay contests years ago.

But I could not come up with anything to write about, sadly.

I’m curious to see the winning essays and what people were able to come up in this day and age.

Also, did this help to suddenly retire the State gal er Doctor in charge of California Covid testing last night?
______________________________________________________

I don’t think the two are related.

California is a big state. There is a lot of stupid to go around there.

That sounds like the same people who thought it was a good idea to pay criminals not to commit crimes.

That’s true, if I can get all the tests paid for by insurance, or pick them up for free, I just need to take a half-dozen tests or so and I’ll probably find a positive.

On the other hand, if I actually get the stupid disease, I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

On the other other hand, actually 2 weeks of my life is worth a lot more than $1250. And even with a false positive, I’d have to quarantine for that long.
