4D Chess: Trump Nukes Dems with Executive Orders, Leaves Biden ‘Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Basement’
Red State ^ | 08/08/2020 | Nick Arama

As my friend and colleague, Mike Ford, reported earlier, after Democrats tried to hold up signing a Congressional relief package to play games and get some of their long term agenda items, President Donald Trump has decided to go around them with executive orders that do the following:

President @realDonaldTrump's first executive order today provides a payroll tax holiday to Americans earning less than $100,000 per year. pic.twitter.com/0VQGowNmx2

— The White House (@WhiteHouse) August 8, 2020

-Suspend Payroll Tax through remainder of 2020, for those making less than $100,000.00, retroactive to August 1st. If reelected, his intent is to make these payroll tax cuts permanent.

-Continue the moratorium on evictions, while providing financial assistance to renters.

-Extend unemployment benefits at a rate of $400.00/week, $200.00 less than previous plan. This gets rid of the “stay home” incentive by making work more attractive.

-Defer Student Loan Payments.

So these provide tremendous help to Americans, encourage the return to work, encourage employers to hire more workers.

Now these are incredibly popular moves. But Trump made them. And it means the Democrats don’t get to hold Americans hostage for their agenda. So therefore Democrats are going to fight against them despite the fact that they’re popular and help Americans. Not because Democrats truly have any principled objection to them, but simply because they can’t hold Americans as hostage any more to get what they want.

Trump has truly boxed the Democrats in with this move. If they don’t fight against this, they lose the hammer to get things like mail-in voting and not just that. Trump busted them on other things like wanting to eliminate voter ID and signature verification when voting even in states that have it already. Why would they want that and what does it have to do with virus stimulus, he said. He just lights them up.

President Trump: "The Democrat bill includes stimulus checks for illegal aliens, the mass release of illegal aliens from detention, they also compel the mass release of inmates, including serious felons… what does this have to do with the stimulus for the economy?" pic.twitter.com/nGmE7ztEuD

President @realDonaldTrump on how Democrats want to use the Coronavirus Relief Bill to ban voter ID and signature verification for federal elections.

Why would Democrats want to do that? pic.twitter.com/y17tUWKtUZ

Brilliant. Americans can see clearly. They can also see the games Democrats have been trying to play.

If they do fight against it, they’re fighting against help to the American people. Not a good look. They’re gnashing their teeth over their predicament. They have promised to file a legal challenge, citing Congress’ constitutional authority to determine federal spending. But then, once again, they’re blocking relief to the American people. But now because of DACA, Barack Obama already set the precedent that is going to come back on them.

All the $13/pint designer ice cream in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s freezer can’t make up for how badly they are going to get scalded in the election if they go this route.

Are Democrats suing because PBS and Kennedy Center weren’t a part of the deal? https://t.co/woL2FoV1ds

"Trump's strategy is diabolical," concludes @JoshMBlackman of the president's new executive actions on coronavirus relief. Why? Because thanks to it, "Biden is stuck between a rock and a hard basement." https://t.co/nAOnn7ZOpp

— Varad Mehta (@varadmehta) August 8, 2020

"Democratic AGs will have a tough time explaining why they are ripping away $400 a week from unemployed residents."

Trump's scheme to continue providing unemployment to Americans affected by the pandemic is diabolical indeed, as @JoshMBlackman explains. https://t.co/WVW25Btd0D

Diabolical?  That carries a negative (Satanic) connotation.  I like Solomonic much better!

Fun part is how Trump boxed the Libtards into a deal for Corona.

States can 25% of the $400 for their citizens and if they want to increase those benefits to Oh, I don’t know, ($600) then the Feds will cover 75% of that.

They can’t say no to $400 and maybe not $600 and litigating the whole thing is a No Va

So, they lost again and Team Trump gets to crow about it til Nov 3 and again in January when he extends it further....

If the cuts are permanent, how do we fund the 1/2 of SocSec that comes from workers’ incomes?

My NPR is sh*ting themselves and concerned about fiscal spending as a bipartisan issue and actually said programs like Medicare and Social Security are in trouble. All of a sudden the left is all fiscal responsibility.

I don’t see this as “4D Chess”. This is simply an end around of the same, tired tactic of the left installing their agenda by way of inserting their demands on “must pass” legislation and therefore allowing the left to blame Republicans for actually signing this atrocity.

We’ve seen this tactic used over and over again for several decades, and since they have no new ideas and lack creativity, their action was expected. Par for the course.

Enter an administration who actually studies their opponents and has evaluated their tactics and inability to be either creative or imaginative and here we are, “we know what they’re going to do next”.

This isn’t “rocket science”. It’s not even looking ahead several moves. Not necessary when all you need to do is predict their NEXT move. It’s the application of “common sense”.

The left is simply predictable. No special skills necessary to prepare for, just observation of their historical patterns.

What if you want to pay in to Social Security?

If the payroll tax cut is seen as endangering people’s social security payments, Trump could lose millions of seniors’ votes

Reminds me of how McConnell helped The GOP lose the congressional elections two years ago by calling for Social Security cuts in an interview a few weeks before Election Day. Dems used his statement in their campaign ads.

I believe that SS comes from the general fund. There isn’t a special account. Since I don’t qualify for SS (I lived outside the US for 30 years and didn’t put anything into it) I don’t really care but it seems that is what I was told years ago.

It would be all of Social Security (and Medicare). Not only would the workers not have to pay payroll taxes, but neither would the employers.

And that’s a damn good question: how do you pay for those social programs without payroll taxes? It really is financially irresponsible. I can already see prices rising at the grocery store.

My prediction is that House Ds take the L and negotiate a deal with Trump, and probably get money for blue states for infrastructure only. It’s better for the Dems to do this, because they’re screwed no matter what.

Holy Crap. Some of you on this post are worse than the democrats. Have you not been paying attention for the last 4 years?

Forget the fact that SS collects 15% of you Gross pay and gets you a 2% return. Forget the fave that if you took half that 15% and put it into a 401k, the market and your savings would explode. Forget all that

Trump has done it again. He doubled everything he want and took away, not only everything the democrats want, bul also most of what they already had. By the time the court cases are done and the tv commercials are over and the law actually gets passed, Trump gets mostly what we want.

We have only seen this like a dozen times already. Its called WINNING! Tired of it yet?

Considering how the dems oppose virtually everything Trump does or says, their heads must be about ready to explode.

They CANNOT oppose this move without completely nuking themselves.

A quick foray over to DU might prove entertaining........
