Actor Ron Perlman traded barbs with Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida over social media Sunday.
The spat began when Perlman condemned Gaetz for tweeting last week that he’d prefer not having a United States national soccer team over having one “that won’t stand for the National Anthem.”
While actor Ron Perlman was already trending on Twitter after sparring with congressmen Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan on Sunday night, Senator Ted Cruz threw his name into the fight. After Perlman tweeted a photo of Jordan with the caption, “You’re lucky for this guy, Matt. If it weren’t for him you’d be the ugliest politician walking,” Cruz stood up for his fellow Republican representatives.
Cruz, 49, who’s represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since 2013, tweeted that Jordan, 56, could easily beat Perlman, 71, in a wrestling match.
Referring to the actor’s eponymous role in Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 superhero film, Cruz said to Perlman, “Listen Hellboy. You talk good game when you’ve got Hollywood makeup & stuntmen. But I’ll bet $10k —to the nonpolitical charity of your choice—that you couldn’t last 5 min in the wrestling ring w/ @Jim_Jordan w/o getting pinned. You up for it? Or does your publicist say too risky?”

Perlman couldn’t resist challenging Cruz in his response, betting the politician he would donate $50,000 to Black Lives Matter if he wins—he also took aim at Ohio congressman Jordon’s involvement in the Ohio State University wrestling abuse scandal.
“I tell you what teddy boy, since mentioning jim jordan and wrestling is… problematic, why don’t we say f*** him and just make it you & me. I’ll give 50k to Black Lives Matter and you can keep all the tax payer money you were thinking of spending.”

That kind of tweet “I challenge you to a fight” is always dumb no matter who does it.
Too funny. Is this gonna be a wheelchair match because Perlman’s about 2 yrs older than dirt. The only decent movie Perlman ever made was “Quest for Fire”. Zero dialogue and all he had to do was scratch himself. (Rae Dawn Chong was nekkid.)
Until just now, I didn’t know that Ron Perlman existed. Looking at his Wikipedia page, I learned nothing that I didn’t already know, aside from a few movie titles he’s in that I’ve never seen. I guess Rob Reiner and Michael Rapaport weren’t doing enough.

I remember he played the monster in the TV series, Beauty and The Beast. He was more ugly without the monster makeup.

He’s got the face and stature of someone destined only to play the brutish heavy in films.
A real case of projection. Really.
I heard an interview with Perlman once. He spoke quite a bit about how sensitive he had always been about his appearance. It was a painful interview because he was so incredibly sensitive about it.
Aside from his politics, I think he does a pretty good job as an actor.
Some more than other but I can’t say he exhibits a lot of range. And I’ve seen him phone in some roles.
If Ron can change who he wrestles maybe Ted can do the same and insist that if he’s going to wrestle his opponent should be Allisa Milano

Jordan 6’ 182 Lb.
He won state championships all four years he was in high school and compiled a 156–28–1 win-loss record. He then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–Madison where he became a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion. Jordan won the 1985 and 1986 NCAA championship matches in the 134-pound weight class. BRING IT!
The President didn’t ‘point out’ anything, he told a lie about Cruz’s father that some folks in the cult were all too willing to believe.
