I’ll pass. Well before my time and I’m not all that fluent in 50’s music

Too bad. A lot of outstanding tunes either never made or barely cracked the charts.
Dont forget the payola scandals that happened during that time. DJs were paid to promote or play certain tunes so the charts are tainted.

Yes! I’m in!!!
The 60’s tournament was a lot of fun, and you deserve a prize for doing this!
70’s and 80’s rock is my kind of music but I can appreciate everything that came before that.

The ‘60’s was my decade but I’m in for the ‘50’s too.

Too bad. A lot of outstanding tunes either never made or barely cracked the charts. Such as this one, one of my favorite tunes of the decade, even though it sold maybe a few dozen copies.
This Lonely Boy--The Limelighters (1957)

I’m looking forward to participating.

**Before my time. Even some of the early 60s stuff was a stretch for me. Born in 55. Just a kid.**
Born in 54. I remember mostly themes to shows when I was 6 or older. The early 60’s theme to ‘route 66’ really stuck in my young brain.

I’m in. Please add me to your ping list.

Please include me. It’s before my time (as were the 60s) but I’ll look up and listen to whatever I don’t know to make comparisons.

music from records TV and radio on constantly
So...Im more than ready!

Interesting, sort of, that Alan Freed was so damaged
but Dick Clark neck deep with the Philly pop
labels got off the hook
That being said, most of the hits deserved to
be the popular items they were, payola or no

In the 1930's, there was a considerable difference between Barnacle Bill the Sailor (1930) and Moonlight Serenade (1939), and in the '40's, Who's Taking You Home Tonight? (1940) is about as different from Rock the Joint (1949) as Summer Place (1960) is from Dance to the Music (1968).
No shortage of Big Band music from the early 30's. I picked a random year from the early '30s (1932), and the most of top names would still be top names for the next 20 years (except Rudy Vallee, who didn't change for microphones) :
Fred Astaire & Leo Reisman
Bing Crosby
Rudy Vallee & his Connecticut Yankees
Louis Armstrong
Bing Crosby & The Mills Brothers
Ted Lewis & his Orchestra
Duke Ellington
George Olsen
Guy Lombardo
I used extreme examples for the '60s, but the Beatles and Psychedelic movement was an earthquake on the music scene. Heck, there's more difference between "Love Me Do"(1962) and "The Beatles" [aka "White Album"] (1968) then there is between Barnacle Bill vs. Moonlight Serenade (one of my all time favorites).
