I agreed wit ONE thing he said, we need to bring manufacturing of our pharmaceuticals home. Other than that, didn’t care much for the panic pile on.
That
Carlson is gonna look like a complete idiot when this turns out to be another Legionnaires’ disease, Swine flu, Avian flu, SARS, MERS, etc., scare. And, contrary to what Dr. Van Schoor wrote, like Britain, Italy has socialized medicine and a National Health Service (SSN, Servizio Sanitario Nazionale), which the WHO rates as the second best in the world, so I’d take his comments with a grain of salt as well.
Like you, I agree with one thing Dreher wrote: “If this pandemic teaches us anything, its that we cannot be so strategically entangled with China.” But then, isn’t that what Trump has been telling us for years and isn’t it an issue he’s actually been doing something about - and getting criticized for, no less?
Unlike Obama, Trump imposed travel restrictions to limit the spread of the virus and he’s had cruise ships remain at sea until passengers are tested. How do Lefties react? Travel bans, like everything else in existence these days, is “racist” and “he’s trying to artificially reduce the number of infections for political purposes” or “leaving people on ships to die at sea,” not that he’s trying to LIMIT the number of infections and that they’re flying medical personnel to those ships.
Last week, I found the following article from Cato, which seems to be pretty damned reasonable and a nice diversion from the “We’re all gonna die” approach:
