I'm seeing more and more Amazon Prime trucks on the road these days

Posted on 01/19/2020 3:13:50 PM PST by SamAdams76

There are now over 100 million Amazon Prime members.

Therefore, a lot of trucks are needed to get those good from here to there and from there to here.

I'm seeing more and more of them out on the roadways.

I bought a book from them in 1995 when they were just a small outfit. It was the 1994 edition of PASSPORT TO WORLD BAND RADIO.

Between FED-EX, UPS, USPO & AMAZON my once quiet suburban neighborhood has become a war-zone of giant vehicle traffic day & night.

I get this is the shopping wave of the future, but it’s definitely impacted the quality of life where I live.

I remember that. They said that Amazon would never turn a profit and would eventually collapse like a house of cards.

It is true that Amazon went years without turning a profit.

...

Any money that they made was being invested back into the company, and it paid off eventually.

I had 3 deliveries today, not that long ago ALL of my deliveries were done by individuals in their own vehicles a few deliveries were by UPS, NOW every delivery is done by an Amazon Prime van Amazon is at my doorstep at least 4 times a week sometimes 5 times a week!!! Company is AMAZING I live in CA. and what this company saves me in gas alone is worth every penny!! My yearly membership was $99.00 a year don’t know how they do it!!!

"is a legitimate business expense"

Until your auto insurance co. finds out. Then one will be charged a commercial rate for the vehicle...or cancelled all together for false declaration of the vehicle use.

Same for the uber drivers.

Trucks? I LOVE the trucks compared to what will be in the sky in the near future. The drones and other garbage are going to be all over the sky 36 months from now. Mark my words.

Wanna get rich? Get involved on whatever has to be added to people’s houses so the drones can land. That is going to be a big industry.

>That means USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc. trucks are following each other on the same roads. Talk about the giant carbon footprint.

LOL!

My street sees them everyday. That’s outside of the grocery delivery, and Ubers.

Not knocking it. It is definitely a mark of the times, like when the milk man and ice deliveries were the norm.

Odd you should mention them. When Sears started they had the same business model that Amazon has now. Minus the technology of course. But its basically the same. Order from a catalog, have it delivered to your home. You could order anything from Sears, including cars and even houses.

LOL.

Yeah, I know. I usually have a few boycotts going on at most any time. I sometimes wonder if I am winning. :>)

I take walks through my neighborhood on a daily basis. The volume of delivery trucks is pretty impressive.

Eventually this will go over to drones. Like a dystopian science fiction novel, our skies will soon be filled with drones delivering little boxes. Say you are making omelettes at home and run out of eggs, with the click of a button on your phone app, you can have a carton of eggs air dropped to your front doorstep in minutes.

FedEx is now shipping all of Targets online orders. In my area most small Amazon deliveries are USPS and larger one UPS. Not too many come by Amazons own fleet yet.

Remember when ATMs were free? Now it’s $4, on both sides of a withdrawal out of network.

After Amazon kills the brick and mortar stores, they’ll be able to charge whatever they want for products and delivery.

Enjoy the free delivery and low prices while they last.

Walmart has 5,000 stores they use as internet distribution centers. Amazon has 100 distribution centers.

i will order on amazon for things i can’t find local or direct as a lesser of evil. i’ll go fedex or ups. but that’s it. and i’ll never sign up for amazon prime. everytime that gets shoved in my face i feel like George Baily about to shake old man potter’s claw like hand. i don’t want any part of the “crack” that bezos is pushing.

Had an issue with a new fire tablet.

Turned out I just needed to update it, but the tech in South Africa wouldn’t get off the phone till it was done. Took about an hour, but we had a good conversation.

Never had any issue with their customer service.

Around here the mall is empty. They built an Amazon warehouse/delivery facility across from it.

Bezos should just buy up empty malls, to use as his distribution centers.

He’d get a great price.

I live in Washington State also and NOT rurally yet I have never seen one. Amazon packages seem to be coming by USPS. Be interesting to see how my 230 pound generator gets delivered.
