“And so we, like, sent our piece of charcoal off to the lab to be dated; and the lab dudes were all, “What date do you think we’ll find on this piece?” And I’m all, “Oh, I’m thinking like, maybe, 10,000?” He goes, “You mean years, right?” And I go, “Yeah, sure.”

This is no surprise. During the last Ice Age the sea levels were much lower than now. The Bering Land Bridge was a major migration route. Then down the west coast of North America and maybe all the way to South America. Probably lots of other sites under water along the coast.

I am of the opinion that the New World was not primarily colonized by foot but by boat. In the Arctic region today the tribes that live on the ocean primarily get their food from the ocean and they often use boats to do so.
When a people are on the move it is much easier to transport their belongings by boat, especially when they don't have horses or other draft animals. Also travel by boat is much safer if you are trying to avoid other hostile tribes, 2,100 pound short faced bears, polar bears, dire-wolves, 600 pound sabre-toothed tigers, 800 pound American Lions, elephant-sized giant sloths, and mammoths.

I don’t believe any of this carbon date stuff. The stone age ended in North America in 1492.

“She and her team began investigating the area for ancient settlements after hearing the oral history of the indigenous Heiltsuk people, which told of a sliver of land that never froze during the last ice age.”
That is some grass roots archaeology.

Pyramids and a wide assortment of significant artifacts indicate a high level of society. The aren’t in a contest for the oldest known settlement.
