I disagree that it was a bad move for the President to disavow the chant. I think the President was simply clarifying that his message was for her to go back to her original country, fix things, then come back and show us how it’s done. The chant “Send her back” implies that she is being forced to leave, and that was not the President’s message.
That is usually true; this IS an exception to that rule!
Whenever he says something cringeworthy, I am reminded to wait 48 hours at which point something comes out and the statement was actually brilliant and the Dems blow themselves up again.

My take is Trump is saying “love it or leave it” to anyone that hates it here but is not making it personal and is not calling for specific members of Congress to go anywhere.
Since he never said “SEND” her back, and he never suggested she should be “SENT” back, it is no backtrack for him to say that he does not think she should be “SENT” back.
And I think it is hilarious how the media keeps “extending” the amount of time that passed between the chanting, and his talking.
None of them acknowledge the truth — when Trump supports a chant, he usually starts repeating it, and rarely starts talking again until it starts dying down.
IN this case, he stopped for applause, which there was, but then the chants started, quietly at first, and then got loud. Once it was clear the chant had taken over, he started talking again to stop it.
He simply knows that HE can’t send her back.
What if he said he wants to send her back...then it’s a distraction.

That is the buzz he wants.
I want people who hate this country to simply leave.

You have a history of ranting without thinking. You get yourself worked up into a frenzy and no one can talk you down, not even with facts.
Also, it always looks bad if you are suggesting we should take an American Citizen and “send” them to another country.
NO matter how much we dislike someone’s politics, we don’t exile political opponents. The Democrats assumed that is what Trump was saying, because liberals are sad that they can’t exile people like all of their heroes.
She can’t go back. It’s against the law to marry your brother in Somalia.
