“America, with a long tradition of protecting religious freedom, still clings to the “hands off” practice of leaving alone any doctrine or practice billed as religion. A thorny problem is in deciding what constitutes a religion and who is to make that call. There is a glimmer of hope that the American people are waking up to the deceit and the menace of the creed called Islam. Their opposition to the building of the mosque at Ground Zero and their numerous objections to building mosques reveals that the creeping Islamization of America is indeed something to stand against and prevent before it is too late.”

They’ve done a great job of using our first amendment to accomplish their goals.

And truth be told, one can easily make the case that the religious clause of the first amendment is idiotic.

” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”

So we should allow any religion to freely EXERCISE their belief system, including killing of the infidels, female genital mutilation, treating women as cattle, etc.?

Like any virtue, tolerance taken to an extreme becomes vice.

The solution:

Do not ban religion for any US citizen.

Just make it impossible for any person from that part of the world to become a US citizen.

Not even allow them as legal residents.

The real problem is the present leaders of the dim party. Any effective legislation would need to be voted on and approved by the congress, which is unfortunately controlled by fools.

I somehow think this present situation with islam never occurred to the Founding Fathers. I think it was totally off their radar as islam was not the threat then that it is today.

I think if they had a clue about how that Amendment was going to be misused, they would have worded it differently.

It reminds me of raising kids. You can try to think of all the tings they can get into and warn them about it and they'll find the one thing you never mentioned and run with it.

There's ALWAYS something you never expect.

The problem is in conceding that Islam is a religion. It is a political system with religious trappings.
