I saw a photo of Northam’s high school basket ball team members. There was one who fits the height profile perfectly—about three inches taller—black.
I think you are on to what I am thinking. I was able through Classmate’s web site to get Northam’s 1977 basket ball team photo. I was able to do a screen shot and copy just the men’s basketball photo which shows Northam in the back row. There is black team member, also in the back row, if you draw a line from his lips it will hit Northam’s eyes, just as in the KKK photo. I think we have a match FRiend!

Northam said he wore a Michael Jackson outfit.
If you look at the blackface photo. Mirrored glasses. A white fedora with a black band. Both michael Jackson clothing items back then.
I do think the KKK person is likely his date given the height difference. This was likely the date photo taken at parties when yuh first walk in.

You are right. My theory has been for decades that Americans who played baseball (or softball) and wore mitts on their LEFT hands are more comfortable holding objects with their left hand.
I have no empirical proof, but its been true in my life. For at least a decade after the PC revolution I used my left hand for the mouse because it felt comfortable for this very reason. (Don’t ask me why or how I switched to the right, my dominant hand).
To this day I will hold a beverage with my left hand at least as often, if not more than, my right ....
I played into my college years until the coaches figured out I wasn’t good enough and didn’t renew my scholarship.
I also grew up horseback and showed cutting horses for years, using the left hand of course. May be hereditary, my grandson can throw and bat right or left.
