And I just saw our local newscast the other day announcing that the Bronie fest (whatever it’s called) will be ending after next year’s gala (4 days) in Baltimore.
They cited less attendence/enthusiasm.

I think it’s funny they seemed to always meet here in Baltimore? The riot place with uber-black-males wandering around? Are they sure that’s not the reason enthusiasm has died down?

I was at BronyCon 2018 last weekend. I had a great time hanging out with my friends and the other 5400 or so nerds and geeks who showed up. Unfortunately MLP isn't the Big New Thing anymore and while the fandom is still strong they can't profitably rent the Baltimore Convention Center for the weekend. The reason BronyCon moved from it's start in New York City to Baltimore was because the BCC was desperate for business and gave them a special deal. Hopefully it will come back somewhere where there isn't a bum begging for money every 20 feet.
