IF I'm right, he did what a family man WOULD do.
Then he was never the right man for the job. If our Founders had that attitude the King would still be on our money.
re: The Great Wall of Jordan
begun 2008; Raytheon, Tucson = McCain’s baby
check out some pix of it - pretty tall wall for $300M. We aughta be able to do the same right here stateside.
“Phases 2 and 3, the building of a fully integrated and networked fence running along a 275-mile(442 km) stretch of Jordan’s borders with Syria and Iraq and costing some $300 million, are scheduled to be fully operational this year [2016].
Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump! You’re as bad as the Left and the Media.
The biggest problem here at Free Republic is too many of us are spectators kvetching about things to each other, rather than doing things.
This country has going off the rails for a long, long time. It began long before even Obama.
In my long life—I was born when Dwight Eisenhower was president—I have seen our civilization, our Christianity get removed and trod on, and things get coarser and coarser, while the politicians got more and more enamored of their power and wealth.
You can’t blame it solely on Obama, or Clinton, or Carter, or Kennedy or Johnson, and Nixon, or Bush, or Dubya.
Therefore, it is not, was not possible for JUST Trump, or just Reagan to fix it.
Trump DID give us, and is STILL giving us something to fight for.
And WHO exactly is “us”? The conservatives? The Republican party?
I just don’t see the Republican party fighting. For God sake’s man, THEY are the enemy.
I am unhappy that Trump signed this bill, but I’m pissed as Hell at McConnell and Ryan and the whole damn party, and the Republican base of my state Alabama that wouldn’t get off their fat assets and vote for Roy Moore. I knew from that moment we were screwed.
Today’s signing goes back to that moment when Moore lost—knowing your base wouldn’t have your back and believed the salacious lies of the media.
But blame Trump? No.
Us.
You're not wrong ... sort'a
re: ny/nj tunnel: approved 2015 for 50% fed contribution. NY anties $1.75B, Port $1.9B, NJ 1.9B. In the below article, it looks like they’re stuck with competing for $540M in discretionary funding and $3B in overall transportation funding
Were not going to have a war with Iran. Watch what happens.
“This gives the Democrats a BIG boost in the midterms because conservatives feel theyve been betrayed.”
It will be utterly stupid for republicans to not vote in 18 because they feel they have been betrayed.
If anything we should be galvanized to vote in 18 yet morons here are saying they are “done” and will not vote.
Not voting is giving up, its allowing your self “to be raped, relax and enjoy it.” That would be utterly stupid.
I agree with you 100% and I myself will vote, but I'm afraid many will not.
Might as well be mad at the right people - the RINOs worked with the Dems to set Trump up - they were hoping he would “desert the military” and others he has been fighting for and then they could have overridden the veto to “save the day” and give the Dems and themselves so many talking points to ruin him (the People) that it is nuts. He conceded the battle and threw down the gauntlet in the Press briefer - the RINOs either get it together or prove just how aligned they are with the Dems.
I didn’t say that we should stop fighting or that we shouldn’t do something as effortless as vote. It would be stupid to give up, in fact it would be immoral, since we would have failed our watch and doomed the next generation to slavery.
I am grateful to Trump for denying Hillary and I am very happy about Gorsuch. He’s done a lot of good so far, maybe more that I ever should have rightfully expected. But I’m also sure that you understand how important symbology is in politics. I’m reading a lot of rationalization now as to why Trump’s signing of that spending bill isn’t as bad as it looks, but I have to say as the man on the street, it looks pretty damn bad to me, and to me it was a symbolic surrender to the Swamp.
I don’t see it as a “surrender to the swamp” on Trump’s part at all. If anything it should make republicans more motivated to put more of the right people in office so it doesn’t happen again. And that is truly the way to make it not happen again, change the people who write bills like that. They are the root cause problem, not Trump. Blaming Trump is a short sighted symptom treatment that will never cure the root cause.

Yes.
If he vetoed the bill and made the border wall a condition of his signing, he would force the Swamp to go on record as being against the border security. By doing this, I believe Trump would have energized his base for the 2018 elections to do exactly what you suggested and what is needed.
What new constituency has he won and who has he energized with his decision to cave and sign this?
