Steve Bannon's Big Loss in Alabama

The big loser in Tuesday's Alabama's special Senate election was not the Republican Party. They had already lost weeks ago, the moment the Washington Post wrote their (carefully vetted, in this instance) exposé of the thirty-year-old sexual proclivities of Judge Roy Moore.

It never seemed that the Republicans in Congress of the Senate came alongside of Moore, so to pile up on Bannon is poor sportsmanship. He was the only guy who put his neck on the line. Even Donald Trump never publicly came out in strong support of Moore. He was at it pretty much all alone.

You think just maybe there is a reason Trump didnt do that??? seriously? I suspect he knew Strange was a safe bet and Crazy Roy would be a huge risk... he was right as usual.

This was a battle between McConnell and Bannon, and McConnell is the one doing the happy dance this morning.

The allegations were impossible to overcome in this highly charged “me too” environment in which we are living. The voters did not reject conservatism or the Trump agenda.

One would have to be extremely gullible to believe the debunked accusations against Roy Moore. Steve Bannon is not such a mark.

Moore ran against McConnell, et. al. both in the Primary and the General. The McConnell Republicans stayed home in the General.

Jones only won by a razor thin margin and it remains to be seen what kind of voting slate will be available to him as he likely can not afford to be too cosy with Chucko and other liberal Dem types.

Don’t blame Trump for not jumping the shark - we put him in a precarious position when we told him he was wrong and Moore needed to be the candidate - if we had sent as much money as was spent against him he would be the new Senator but I’d wager maybe 2% of his “supporters” actually did more than talk him up.

“It never seemed that the Republicans in Congress of the Senate came alongside of Moore,”

Worse. They sabotaged Moore blatantly. Deep-state GOP and Shelby. “By any means necessary” take down Trump, even if it means losing our country — which it does. The depth of hatred can only be Satanic, as there’s no amount of logic that can explain it.

Putting Sessions in the AG job is a lose-lose for us. He isn’t DOING his job, and it opened up a Senate seat the GOPe gave to the ‘Rats.

It’s not good for Bannon. He should have picked Mo Brooks with Laura Ingraham if he wanted to go against Strange. That said, in fairness to Bannon, there was no way he would know of such allegations. If he did, he wouldn’t have endorsed even if Moore denied because of the liability.

“Jones only won by a razor thin margin”

In AL, what’s the percentage point that requires a mandatory recount? (Not that it would change the final outcome. Just wondering.)

Mitch McConnell lost this seat with an assist from Romney, McCain and other faux conservatives. First he poured millions to defeat the conservative in the first runoff, then supported Strange.

Yesterday's Alabama Special Election proved one thing:

All Politics Is Local.

There really isn't much more to it than that. The people of Alabama have spoken. Not Hollywood, not Washington DC, not a bunch of outside special interest groups and not George Soros.

The people of Alabama, and that's the most important thing.

The reality is whoever won this race was going to be nothing more than a placeholder for the next two years because both candidates are terribly flawed.

Jones will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for the Democrat Party and a lame duck as a result. He has a huge target on his back already and I'd bet is the most vulnerable Democrat to have to defend a Senate seat in 2020.

Judge Roy Moore was going to face an endless barrage of calls for him to resign should he have won, and a Senate Ethics Committee (that's a laugh right there!) "investigation." That would've been a big distraction for the Republican Party and President Trump as well.

So IMO there really wasn't a good choice here, dare I say not even a good "lesser of two evils" to be honest.

The real race for this seat will be 2020. This wasn't even a bump in the road despite the victorious crowing we'll hear from the Democrat dominated liberal media today.

The Democrats have to defend 25 Senate Seats in 2018. The Republican's only 10. Prospects are good to increase Republican control in the Senate this cycle. That's where the focus should be right now. This "victory" for the Democrats will be short lived, it'll burn itself out as soon as the next big story breaks and be forgotten.

Let's all move on and focus on 2018 and not get distracted.
