President Donald Trump began distancing himself from a Luther Strange loss before ballots were even cast, telling conservative activists Monday night the candidate hes backing in Alabamas GOP Senate primary was likely to lose and suggesting Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would be partly to blame.
Trump told conservative activists who visited the White House for dinner on Monday night that hed underestimated the political power of Roy Moore, the firebrand populist and former judge whos supported by Trumps former chief strategist Steve Bannon, according to three people who were there.

Strange was a sop trump threw at the eGOP. His support was half hearted and I don’t think he is upset that strange was defeated. Playing both sides. Embarrassed McConnell - worth it.
