Senator John McCain has been diagnosed with a particularly aggressive brain cancer called a glioblastoma.
If he does retire, how would his replacement be chosen?
In Arizona, where McCain is Senator, vacancies are filled by governor appointment rather than a special election. This means that Gov. Doug Ducey, a Republican, would choose McCains replacement.
Ducey is up for re-election himself in 2018, so its likely he will be very cautious about who he picks. Many are suggesting that Kelli Ward would be the safest choice, since she got 39.2 percent in her primary run against McCain. Shes already signed up to run for election again in 2018, but this time she will be running against Sen. Jeff Flake.

It’ll be Meghan McCain, of course.
Judging from his remarks the other day it looks like Trump is going to support her against Flake. It would sure be great to replace McCain and Flake with real conservatives.

she’s actually pretty based so I wouldn’t mind
Id love to see the U.N. leave the United States, and maybe the U.S. leave the U.N. - Dr. Kelli Ward
I didn’t think of that. Of course you’re right (sigh).

You can trust that the last thing that will be considered is the American people.
I could see special arrangements being made for McCain to continue. The Democrats may even suggest it.
The American people will be way down on the list of priorities.

He’s planning on returning to the Senate after a few treatments, according to Lindsey Graham.
Ducey is a good guy. I trust he’ll choose well.
She must be devastated.
Kennedy did.
Arizona is going to have a two-fer. For a change, they need to choose wisely. For a state that prides itself in being a “conservative stronghold,” it certainly hasn’t shown itself to be so by reason of the people it sends to Washington.
She is.:-)
“Hes planning on returning to the Senate after a few treatments, according to Lindsey Graham.”
Lindsay, as usual, doesn’t know jack about what he’s saying.
He will probably be wheeled in on a gurney, with IVs, for each vote.
-
They had Kennedy’s come in from Drug rehab to cast deciding votes.
It’ll be uglier than you think.
The Media supports him, the Dems support him, so they’re no limits.
-
And maybe he can file, or record a bunch of votes. A slew of AYEs and a slew of NOs. Then they can play back which ever they ‘know’ he would have voted, after he is gone, or comatose, or both.
I do not think she is old enough.
