This Russia investigation is a witch hunt aimed to detract from the positive developments during the short-lived Trump administration so far. It has become a dark cloud over this administration that just will not blow away. Should the president order the Justice Department to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller who is now heading up this investigation after the canning of Comey?

He should fire him because no good can come of his ridiculous errand. There is no such rationale for prosecution as the one currently present: “We have found no evidence, which is why we have to keep digging.”
That violates the Constitution’s principles of probable cause and reasonable suspicion, while also violating the unreasonable searches principle.
It’s a no-brainer. This has never happened when the party being investigated holds all 3 branches of government. It is political suicide and without precedent.

I believe that would help. He should also have someone detail the responsibilities of Meuller. Cut him down to a narrow path and make his investigation “MOOT”. The Media is slaughtering Trump on this issue and Trump needs to be on solid ground. The people are behind him but the GOP will sell him out in a NY Minute.
I trust Trump’s instincts here and would not deign to try to decide whether or not Mueller should be fired. Somehow DJT is using Mueller for something and will probably gain position with it.
FACTS ON FILE: (A) Comey cleared Trump of everything in his testimony before Congress (and earlier). (B) Mueller helped Comey prepare for senate hearing (hat tip zunjitsuman).

The special counsel law specifically prohibits conflict of interest. Such as the star witness Comey for obstruction to justice against POTUS being a close friend of the prosecutor Mueller, is a clear violation of existing statute.
Trump: No evidence, or fabricated evidence (urination dossier), no money exchanged hands, no violation of statue in the letter or intent of the statute, converting campaign rhetoric to evidence presented in court = PROSECUTION DEMANDED

There is no special counsel law. The special counsel is a creature of DOJ internal rules and procedures. The DOJ decides what is a conflict meriting action.
