Another pretty good book on MacArthur is Old Soldiers Never Die by Geoffrey Perret. I bought and read it entirely back in the 90’s.
When Life Magazine published the speech in 1964, my HS history teacher read it to our class, but was unable to finish, so overcome was he with emotion. And with good reason. It’s a staple on my PC’s desktop.
