We really need a new party that represents conservatives.
Huh? The irony is that one of the least conservative candidates from the beginning is going to be the most conservative governing President - maybe more than Reagan only because Reagan didn't enjoy GOP control of the House. Trump has become the leader of the party - period. He controls the party apparatus, you just watch how they kiss his ring now as they will all want him to help them raise money.

Trump is the titular head of the party, more in name than in reality. At least at this point in time. He is not being embraced by the rank and file to the extent that he should be given the enormity of his accomplishment in getting elected against all odds. The GOP should be worshiping him, but they clearly are not.

They may kiss the ring, but a lot of it is for show. Like all politicians, they want to curry favor and be on the winning side. But I don’t see them standing shoulder to shoulder with Trump yet, despite the avalanche of viscous and unfair criticism being directed at him by the rabid Left and their confederates in the media.

Bear in mind that after eight years of Obama’s disastrous rule, the hapless GOP still doesn’t have any idea what its going to do about Obamacare or tax relief. If they were sincere they would have been prepared to move on these critical issues from day one. But they don’t really want to do that and many are looking to delay, stall and even retain some of the worst policies imaginable.

There is still deep resentment against Trump in the party. Make no mistake about it it. Many in the GOP see him as a renegade who will be gone in four years. With their help.
