I do hope so! Nice to know there is someway to possibly press her wallet and or make her feel a bit of embarrassment.

She’s right though, they can slam her on Twitter all they want to, but ‘I still have your money!”, is her favorite response.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

“So what if Frodo succumbed to the Black Rider knife shard? One of the other hobbits could’ve borne the Ring.”

I don’t think any of the other hobbits had the personality to volunteer, certainly not at that point in the story. Merry and Pippin were jokers who only came along that far to accompany Frodo on his adventure, and Sam’s only goal was to protect Frodo. If Frodo had died, they would have wanted to go home more than anything.

No, I think if Frodo died at that point, they would have been desperate for a ringbearer, perhaps succumbing to Boromir’s demand...

It’s the behavior of the Black Riders that doesn’t make sense.

They thought that after wounding Frodo on Weathertop, the knife shard would eventually turn him to their will and be enough to get the Ring (Aragorn says as much).

So they pulled back and waited.

But that makes no sense, because if Frodo eventually died from the wound on the trip, one of the other party would’ve borne the Ring for the remainder of the trip to Rivendell.

So the Black Riders wouldn’t have gotten the Ring simply by Frodo’s death (unless they had gotten it that night on Weathertop).

BTW I think the settings in LOTR are fantastic. It’s the plot that I have problems with.

I also think “The Hobbit” is much better than LOTR.

“one of the other party would’ve borne the Ring for the remainder of the trip to Rivendell”

You keep saying this, but it neglects to take into account what we already know from the story. Nobody else but Boromir (and Bilbo) had any inclination to even touch the ring, because they were either too afraid of the burden it would entail, or they were aware that it would destroy them. Perhaps the Black Riders, informed by Sauron’s Eye, knew that as well. Perhaps they wanted Boromir to be the only choice to bear the ring, knowing he would succumb to it easily, but that he would never realize that was coming because of his pride.

Or perhaps Gandalf would have vetoed Boromir and reluctantly let Bilbo bear the ring again, but that would have ended just as disastrously.

It’s a bit of a silly argument, I think, because the elves saving Frodo was a bit of deus ex machina, and you can never expect the villains in a story to account for a deus ex machina when they hatch their plans :)

Interesting. I’m happy to say I’ve NEVER bought any of her books.

She’s well on her way to becoming a millionaire now.
Well, that’s one way to wish her ill. Kind of like, “How do you make a small fortune farming?” Ans: “Start with a large fortune.”

Rowlings is a billionaire.

Of course, Sam took the Ring when he thought Frodo had been killed by Shelob. You do what you gotta do.

What you say about the big picture, I don’t disagree.

But just in the context of the trip from Bree to Rivendell, I don’t think the Black Riders tactics made sense.

I can, but then I am old.

I can also remember people destroying records, CD's, VHS's and other such.

It is, as you say, more common for us just to trash them but when a dramatic statement is called for burning works.
