Boston McDonald's Launching ATM That Spits Out Big Macs
The Daily Caller ^ | 1/24/2017 | Eric Lieberman

A Boston McDonald’s is set to launch a machine that dispenses the fast-food chain’s trademark sandwich, the Big Mac.

The automated cheeseburger machine will offer three different sizes: traditional, the Mac Jr. and the Grand Mac, according to Metro Boston. The sandwiches are expected to be free of charge and available for a short time period.

People in the area can obtain the stacked sandwich without conversing with any humans, which seems to be part of a trend for casual restaurants.

Automation is going to kill 10X the number of jobs as outsourcing.

> I see the $15/hour minimum wage has made its way to Boston.

It’s $11/hour in Massachusetts as of Jan 1, 2017. The mayor of Boston supports moving it gradually to $15.

Boston McDonald's Launching ATM That Spits Out Big Macs

That's funny. Because if I were to put a Bic Mac in my mouth, the only reaction I'd have would be to spit it out.

I'd prefer the machine not spit on my Big Mac. Has some social justice warrior programmer hacked its artificial intelligence with a sense of grievance?

“You don’t need to communicate with staff and it would be much quicker,”

I should say so. Because I do not speak Spanish, Mexifornian or Spanglish. I also do not go to McDonalds at all. Except to drop a dookie when nature calls at an inconvenient time.

but I bought a “Grand Mac”

***************

I know the Grand Mac was just introduced. What is the difference between it and the ‘Big Mac’
other than a slice of Cheese and a littler larger bun? Do you know as it looks much the same to me.

I heard that McDonald’s was giving away bottles of their Big Mac special sauce today to the first 10,000 who came in. I use thousand island dressing at home, but it isn’t quite as tasty.

Maybe once or twice a year, I will have a Big Mac attack.

When that happens to me, I fight the urge and head to the freezer to defrost some nice burger and put homemade burgers on the menu for that night. THAT is worth the wait. And keeps me from having to go into a McDs.

If I want a fast food burger, I go to Smashburger first. Five Guys is second.

There is a good Wendy’s a few miles up I77 that I might visit if going on a trip.

McD’s may be wanting to stress test the machine in real world conditions. Works fine in the lab. How will it work in the real world under stress loads. If you figure they are charging this to research budgets rather than promotional budgets, it makes more economic sense.

If it works here, they may then do a limited roll out to multiple restaurants at different price points.

It’s a long way from fully automated service, but it’s a big step. I saw a McD’s a year or so ago with an automatic drink machine at the drive in window. One button, and it would drop the right sized cup on the conveyor, dump in ice, fill the correct drink, and deliver it to the clerks, who had to put on a lid and hand it out the window. It would occasionally glitch and drop two cups at a time, requiring more work by the clerk, but again, it was a step forward.

My wife and I went to see The Founder a few nights ago (Cinemark $4 day ... very good film, by the way) and I've had a jones for a cheeseburger and fries ever since. But I'll get over it.

Yeah...Wendy’s does rock. I haven’t been to one in a decade or more but I liked them. There are a bunch of good ones now...In’n’Out, Carl’s Jr., Five Guys, etc. Good...but damned pricey.

I have a theory about McDonald’s, that is, everything they make is all one thing, and in the back they have this big vat full of this stuff, these little molds combining, like SPLURT ‘Hamburger!’ SPLURT ‘Malt!’ SPLURT ‘Paper box!’ SPLURT ‘Here’s your change!’

thank you commie left. will we have to pay the machines $15/h?
The big losers are kids who won’t be able to get jobs.
When I was a kid, I had a job paying $15...a day. And it was great because I could buy stuff I never had. I was very poor. My parents had no money. All I remember prior was hunger.

Probably a shot across the bow to the minimum wagers - proof they can automate and get rid of lazy humans that want more money for less work.
