Bernie is one of those rare birds, the honest philosophical socialist. The actual scheming socialistas use guys like him as useful idiots.
What I would like to keep reminding guys like him, is that he’s trying to do Christianity without a Christ. It won’t work in the secular realm, but charity fueled by God can do mighty things.
I knew very few philosophical socialists, the ones with a genuine love of people and a belief in the good people could do when working together. The ones I knew were very distrustful of the standard socialists that surrounded them. Sad, in a way. Those were decent folks with a utopian ideal.
