On 9-11-01 most of the passengers in the commercial jets cooperated with terrorists. Why? Political correctness dictated that they do so. Interesting article, but I completely disagree with the above. Passengers cooperated because previous highjackings resulted in detours, inconvenient delays and eventual release, if you cooperate and don't try to be a hero. The thought that the hijacker's intention was to fly into buildings never occurred to them.

(there is no problem so bad that you can't make it worse)

You are correct. Previous highjackings had shown that the best chance of survival lay in cooperation, so the passengers’ cooperation was rooted in pragmatism, not political correctness.
As for United 93, I recall hearing that the passengers had learned what happened to the other highjacked planes, so they were faced with the certainty of death unless they did something. I respect their bravery, but I think it was motivated by desperation rather than patriotism.

‘Passengers cooperated because previous highjackings resulted in detours, inconvenient delays and eventual release, if you cooperate and don’t try to be a hero.’
Some considered that dangerous even before 9-11.

‘Interesting article ...’
Thank you. And I respect your disagreement on that one point, BTW.
