It is OK if you think that government is corrupt and incompetent, I think that too.
It is OK to have weapon in your home, and will and knowledge to use it, and it is very good if you think that TV is full of crap.
I think too that S. is gonna hit the fan, and that it makes sense to have bug out location and bug out bag, and lots of cans and ammo.
So we are clear that we agree that all of the above (and lots more) make perfect sense. But one thing does not make sense and that is to let everyone else know that you are thinking like this.
Why?
Because it makes you different from (great) majority of folks around you, and what should be one of the basic and first imperatives?

Thanks.
Good idea, thx.
We started our neighborhood watch about 9 years ago. Using that as a starting point we got to know who is and who isn’t worth a damn. From that initial group we built a small cadre of like minded folks we are reasonably sure we can depend on when the time comes.
Nothing is 100% of course, but it’s a good start.
Good stuff. Thanks for the link.
So true Kart. Desparate people do desparate things. Selco is right in that you really will not be able to help other people when the SHTF.
Mr. GG2 and I have gone around about this several times. I am a naturally generous person and it took me a long time to harden my heart on this subject. When things get really bad you have to take care of your family and everyone else is on their own.
The biggest danger for those who survive the first month will be the roving packs of cannibals.
You would have thought you would have read the article first before commenting.
Thank you.
Thanks for link.
Just like America is hated even while other countries are cashing bazillion dollar aid checks from us. Lesson long learned.
Not if there's a skeleton with a few empty bottles of bbq sauce hanging at your gate.
Brilliant. Thank you.
That Duke post was eye opening, I didn’t know about that source, I may use it myself for some classes.
Of course they have these groups for virtually any topic you can imagine.
Boy, in SHTF as a freckled red head I’m pretty well toast aren’t I?
You are so screwed.
We used to have a guy on the prepper threads who would brag about how he’d rob each and every one of us of our hard-earned preps. The personal way in which he did that was downright creepy!
On one of those, when he was harrassing a mother and telling her how he’d torture her kids and use her for a plaything, I offered to let him have all my jars of home-canned foods that didn’t process correctly.
He hasn’t been seen since.
My suggestion would be to sound like you’re curious about prepping but don’t know where to start. People will give you advice, some good and some bad, but if you’re always the newbie, they’re less likely to think of you when they need somebody to mooch off of.
I hate running out of ammo.
“The biggest danger for those who survive the first month will be the roving packs of cannibals.”
Roving implies they will get off their dead azz and do something. Not going to happen.
To my son at a track meet “Why do people here run so fast and walk so slow?”
