Gospodin Snowden Posted by William A. Jacobson Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 4:45pm
How did Edward Snowden so carefully thread the needle to download a massive trove of highly secret documents from across the NSA and intelligence networks without detection?
How did he know exactly which job to go after in Hawaii to give him that access, and how was his escape so neatly orchestrated that he ends up first in Chinese controlled Hong Kong with its difficult extradition rules, and then on to Vladimir Putins arms?
Should I be monitored today in case someone from a terrorist network accidentally calls me two years from now?
I don’t think so.
And no, I don't want them listening into "terrorists" if it means recording my phone calls and snatching all of my emails and texts. Quit being such a bed wetting pussy thinking big brother has to protect you, man up and be something the Founders wouldn't be ashamed of. Heritage and the rest of Coward America needs to grow a pair start living as free men and women again.
OK...let the terrorists do what they want then, eh?
It's not bed wetting to recognize that 9/11 happened. And it's not bedwetting to know that if we stop surveillance on terrorists they will network and attack again. These are facts.
I don't know if you should or shouldn't be monitored since I don't know you. But there are many who should be because they are involved in terror circles.
No, those are not facts. They are your opinions. Cowardly, juvenile opinions but opinions nonetheless. You don’t have what it takes to handle freedom, and that’s fine. However, we grown-ups don’t want to live in your Nerf World where all of the sharp edges are rounded off and big brother is watching and recording every move we make.
That 9/11 took place is just my opinion and is not a fact? Really? And you're calling me the juvenile?
There’s a “weasel” answer if I ever saw one.
You told me in Post 77 that past calls (two years is the time frame you mentioned) should be evaluated for network-expansion potential.
Under your approach, a wasp nest in the back yard is dealt with by swatting individual wasps.
The only way to deal with a wasp nest in the back yard is to destroy the entire nest.
A free society does not deal with exterior threats by monitoring its own citizens; a free society deals with exterior threats by destroying the root of the exterior threats.
Having your (and my) phone calls monitored will not keep either of us safe.
I do not want my phone calls, emails and other potential activity monitored by the government unless they have probable cause to believe I’m engaged in wrongdoing, and a warrant.
Your cowardice does not change that.
Since your reading comprehension is as lacking as your willingness to live as a free man, I figured I would give you the cut and paste of your opinion. Any other lame justifications for living like a frightened little girl and demanding that the rest of us do so in order for you to have a little false security?
Exactly. And how are you going to find the nest unless you monitor the activity of the wasps?
destroying the root of the exterior threats.
And if the threats are interior? Those are the ones we're talking about. There are plenty of black muslims in the US, for example, who have no greater desire than to kill Americans. Or take the example of Jose Padilla who had plans to ignite a dirty bomb. The interior threats are obiously the most dangerous to the US proper.
If you think someone is a danger, get a warrant and subpoena their call records from the phone company.
Don’t go monitoring my activity “just in case”.
No, those are not facts. They are your opinions.
Very odd to say that 9/11 was not a fact. And it's only "my opinion" that Jose Padilla, for example, was caught by surveillance? Really?
Ah, yes. First seek a warrant from what may very well be an activist judge who will call your request "racist".
That's what happened with the Minnesota laptop which contained information on the hijackers in FL. They weren't allowed to look at it and had to wait on a judge.
9/11 could have been stopped had they been able to look into the laptop.
I gave you a cut and paste once. The adults here can see that. Keep deflecting away from your cowardice. It’s the only move you have.
Because some dumb bureaucrats at NSA decided to put all the docs into Sharepoint. Sharepoint would control access in theory, but like every other Microsoft product (and software from most other companies) it requires an expert administrator to keep it running. That administrator can download everything without anyone else finding out.
9/11 happened. It wasn't just bedwetting as you claimed.
And it's not bedwetting to state the FACT that terrorists are plotting more attacks as we speak.
If they had looked at the laptop, Jaime Gorelick’s Wall of Separation between the FBI and CIA would likely have prevented making any use of the information.
Are there any parts of the Fourth Amendment you’d like to maintain in effect, or should we just ignore the whole thing so we can all feel safe?
Yeah, it actually was a cut and paste. Everyone here can see that. But is there someone out there wanting to do bad things? Sure there is. But we live in a free republic (where have I heard that?) You seem quite happy to hand over your god given rights to an all knowing, all powerful police state. Some of us grew up riding our bicycles without helmets, knee and elbow pads. Others didn’t. Threads like this probably point out who falls into which group. Damn you and anyone else straight to hell for trying to give away our rights because you’re scared.
Note there were also reports from flight schools of students wanting to learn to cruise but not to land.
Plain English, no electronic surveillance necessary, no search warrants necessary, no activist judges.
But due to Jaime Gore-lick’s wall this information was ignored.
How is your all-powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing surveillance network going to overcome that?
Facts are something that has already happened, it is generally agreed, and not something in your juvenile paranoid imagination.
I’m thinking it’s time to quit feeding the troll.
