Because the intended pipeline crosses an international border, the president has a say in the project. So far, weve seen President Obama hum, haw, mumble, and double-talk his way through questions about the pipeline. While I have always believed his hesitation was caused by the fact the Keystone decision would be a no-win for him say no, piss off his union supporters, say yes and its the environuts who will be protesting I have come to realize there might be something else at play.

Probably not. I see the oil carried by Keystone XL to replace oil imported from oversees. We already refine more oil than we use ourselves and sell the surplus.
The Keystone XL will bring more oil to Steele City, Nebraska. From there the pipelines will carry to the midwest as well as south. The Gulf Coast pipeline from Cushing, Oklahoma has been separated from the Keystone XL. It is already under construction.
Which is not a bad thing. I thought this would encourage more.
