I have filed and recorded births and have never heard of mean absolute error in relation to these. However, I was never on the making of statistical lists end of it so can’t say if they would use it but is seems a bit odd. I’m going with the child’s name being Mae but one would think “duplicate” would have been placed after her name. Perhaps someone needs to get a copy of a list which includes M/F.

Good idea about looking for Duplicates in the male names. What would happen if someone went into the database and over-wrote Obado's initial entry with Obama's? "Obado Mae" gets "Obama Barack Hussein" typed over it. Would that cause the "Obado Duplicate Mae" to show up below the entry for Obama? (Maybe it was a goof and they grabbed a girl's entry instead of a boy's LOL)
