Are the cedars throughout the region?

We live in high desert, so we do drought just fine. It’s a way of life around here.

Thank you for the helpful suggestions and info.

Do you want to Reside or Live in one of these 2 places?

If you wish to Reside... Austin

If yo want to Live... just about any place else in Texas will do, you want the Music etc that Austin has? You will find in short order that a couple hundred miles round-trip for a Dinner Date is not unusual (when you are young... if you are older ... she better be really hot or she is driving her own Pick up and you are just chipping in for Diesel)

Houston has it all... best and worst ... mostly best and refer to what I mentioned above ... couple hundred miles and you can eat Cajun, Dance Zydeco or do whatever and still Sweat in Houston before the Sun comes up.

TT

I am not sure. Salt Cedars only grow on alkali or salty soil.

There are other Cedars in the Hill Country. We have bought cedar fence posts from the area around Goldthwaite, TX.

Not sure if it is the same in Hutto.

If you hide from allergies, I think Amarillo might be a good place. Except for Palo Duro Canyons, there are few trees. It is cold in the Winter, but nice much of the year. I have lived in that area 3 times.

Good comments by many.

Outside of the music industry base you are looking for everything is location, location, location.

Suggest you go to Zillow.com. Search for neighborhoods on their homepage. The descriptions of each neighborhood are helpful.

Then search for sexual predators by zip code in Texas. This will tell you a lot about the subterranean life of certain neighborhoods.

Also check out City-Data.com for each city or suburb.

Three separate incorporated cities north of San Antonio are enclaves of stable schools and neighborhoods: Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, and Olmos Park.

Monte Vista Zip Code 78212 is a district of San Antonio with a very artistic feel and near Trinity College. The only drawback is a disproportionate number of sexual predators that live in Monte Vista District due to the cheaper housing.

My guess is that Austin has the more advantageous music industry but you would have to find an enclave there if you wanted to raise kids. As always, check out the schools and how they are rated.

all of tx has major allergy problems, blowing pollen and dust. Dallas has some of the worst, BUT there is good work in most of Tx. Some small towns like Temple have great schools, good medical and low cost housing. Large companies are in the area of Waco/Temple so if you can handle warm weather and pollen...good luck.

If yall want to work in music you “will” cultivate contacts in Austin.

Once you make the contacts, you can do what you want any where in Tx.

But Austin is the musical hub of Tx.

For music, Austin. Check out Dripping Springs area. You will be surrounded by hippies low life’s and liberals no matter where you go there.

Re allergies in Texas: It really depends on what exactly you’re allergic to. (Or if perhaps you don’t have allergies at all, but have asthma or some other respiratory condition which can be exacerbated by pollution.) If you know what your family members are actually allergic to, you can do Internet searches to determine average pollen counts for various areas.

OTOH, sometimes when you move it can improve allergy issues. I grew up in Texas and am VERY allergice to Western Mountain Cedar (as are many, many Texans, because Western Mountain Cedar really tends to set off allergic responses). We moved to No.California, where there’s no Western Mountain Cedar ... and my allergy issues have greatly declined since that allergen just doesn’t exist here.

Anyway. Allergies are specifid. Do some research and you can find the answer.

Check out Fort Worth area, home of Billy Bob’s and many other music venues. Conservative, with only a very small % being of the gay culture. About 45 miles W of Dallas and 25 miles W of DFW Airport. Affordable. .....I live about 20 miles NE of Fort Worth.
