So they were discussing on Fox Sunday the Dems' resolve to start a national gun registry. Wallace discussed the issue with several Fox regulars, and all but the in-house Lib concluded that such a registry would certainly be but a first step towards confiscation. Then they ended the segment with a joke and they all laughed.
So they were discussing the Dems' bugging of McConnell's office on Kelly's segment. They all agreed that it was probably a felony and should be investigated. Then someone made a wise crack and they all laughed.
So the topic of Obama's utter incompetence and possible treason regarding foreign relations and Korea's increasingly psychotic actions was being discussed on the Fox evening Special Report. And then someone made a joke and they all laughed.
But...
Put on your MOP 4 suit and jump over to MSNBC or one of its venomous spawn. They are discussing how you and I -- conservatives -- are gun-toting Neanderthals who actually own Bibles and should be either put in reeducation camps or chemically sterilized. No one laughed.
Then jump over to ABC and watch as the news anchor tendentiously asks his panel what can be done about Republican racism and its hatred of women and its desire to kill "people of color." Several insane remedies are discussed. No one laughed.
What is it with so-called conservative organizations? I find absolutely nothing funny about the issues we face, but to listen to Fox and National Review and others, it's one big yuck fest. Progressives, OTOH, are deadly serious when they discuss these issues and then push for fascistic remedies.
What's so funny? I realize ridicule can be powerful in a fight of ideas, but if we keep laughing at what is happening, we'll lose everything. Laughter is useful only when you have the stronger hand. It's been just five months since the last elections and we are well on the way to losing the House in 2014 as "conservatives" in the Congress suddenly find that, well, a national gun registry and semi-auto rifle and magazine ban wouldn't be all that bad.
The ones laughing now are Obama's people.
Maybe their ratings are so much higher than the others because they don’t take anything seriously?
If I stop laughing, I’ll go crazy. The government wouldn’t like it if I went crazy.
Shrewd observation.
99% of these smug bastards spend time in the beltway hot tub playing “up periscope”. They make me sick.
I remember reading a book 2 decades ago called “Amusing Ourselves to Death.”
The author’s position was that news and politics were just becoming a type of media entertainment. What was important was the image and form, not the content. For much of America, politics must be “fun” and non-threatening in anyway.
The author died 10 years ago, but he clearly predicted the likes of Colbert and Jon Stewart and how politicians like Obama could rise to power through image alone.
Everyone is on medication for depression. They can get serious even when they know they should.
One hundred percent agree with you. sometimes I think we conservatives are our own WORST enemies. We go on TV and talk about the most disturbing disgusting vilest most corrupt vice of left-wingers while retaining a big wide grin on our faces and smirking and laughing it off as though all part of fun and games of politics, ha ha ha. Hannity does that all the time too and so do his guests. They all laugh instead of grim faces and serious resolve and showing outrage OUTRAGE. We lose lose lose because we — and the groups and media we rely on — don’t project correctly our collective anger and outrage and we don’t demonstrate emotionally the urgency of the catastrophe on our hands. We are so naive and have so much to catch up on.
Oh, just saw my typo. It should be “can’t”

When you laugh at evil, you’ve already lost the battle.
A caller to Rush yesterday brought up the very interesting theory that one reason 75% of the kids in government schools are diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, autism, etc., and placed on psycho-active drugs like Ritalin (among many other drugs, including anti-depressants) is so that one day the government can deny them, as grown-ups, "permission" to purchase firearms based on those "mental health" issues.
So the reason for all the drugging of kids in the schools may go way beyond merely making life more convenient for lazy parents and lazy teachers - - it may be a long-range setup for dismantling Second Amendment rights for most people. Once that's accomplished, those who are left with government "permission" to own firearms can be dealt with in other ways.
If we could not laugh, we could not stand it.
You’re on to something there. It makes sense to me.

reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”

Hussein Obama's latest budget proposal requires passage by Congress without comment or debate, before we are allowed to see what's in it, according to sociali... er Democratic leaders and democratic members of Congress...
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Just like Obamacare, which would cost none of us one additional dime, and would allow all of us to "keep" our current insurance, was the Bullshit* then but, quite painfully evidently today, not the reality. The Boiling Frog political fraud.
I notice that all the time and it bugs the heck out of me.
It’s as if they admitting they were being over dramatic (like the “Faux News” critics accuse) with the previous subject matter. It’s double-mindedness.
