Amen, Joe
The “American” democrats heard from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQn4eVdXy_w
He's since become something of an avid reenactor...
That was a rocking song too! I didn't think Rock and Civil War mixed.
All the way back in 1987, eh? I hate to tell you this Joe, but I wasn't even Born yet. Lol.
One Favorite Scenes from any movie is Gettysburg when General Reynolds Arrives.
Yep David is an incredibly talented and versatile musician, from his Civil War stuff, to his Irish folk music to his rock with the Brandos.
"All the way back in 1987, eh? I hate to tell you this Joe, but I wasn't even Born yet. Lol."
I hate to tell you this KC, but you missed out on some really good years (see Reagan photos above :-)
So My Historical Perspective Starts with Him, Lol!
Must have been nice though, America was strong, VERY strong, the strongest we had been in 40 years, had a Great Economy, A 600 Ship Navy, Aircraft Carriers, The Iowa Battleships, Tico Cruisers, The Arleigh Burke's (the last class of Surface ships the USN actually knew what they were doing.) and President who loved this country deeply.
Now we have a Manchurian Candidate, while your happiness shouldn't depend on who is in the White House, your Wallet most certainly does (and that isn't how it was suppose to be and shows that were are in a very sad state of affairs)
When I got there Tip and his old pal Jack Davoren (former MA Sec. of State) were sitting in Tip's car right next to the entrance, commode-hugging drunk.
Tip had one foot on the ground and was shaking like a palm tree in a hurricane, so I offered him my assistance, "Hey Mr. Speaker, welcome to the land of the living dead!"
He laughed and as I helped him out of the car, he snorted, "You're f'n tellin me!" Had one on each arm and got them in and seated before getting my fare, also a Mitchell's "regular."
Tip’s book ‘Man OF THe House’ was pretty entertaining. Interesting to see history from a different vantage point. He had a lot of respect for Reagan’s political acumen and will; he compared him very favorably to Carter in terms of working to get his agenda through. O’Neil was a pretty astute observer of an interesting time in history; anyone who reads enough political autobiography can get around the inherent bias. His take was “I didn’t care for Reagan as President, but he would have made a hell of a king”.....
How times have changed, eh Rocker?
And so have the politicians...
Lovely, KCL
I blame the folks on both sides who demonize the other.
Just because someone has a given political opinion, even if it is the polar opposite of mine, does not make them a bad person, unpatriotic, a traitor or dumb, they are, if they are at all involved in the political process, a person who loves this country and is trying to make it better, just as much as I am.
The downhill spiral is much more the fault of those on both sides who do not know how to disagree while still being civilized, to state and argue a case without acting like the people against them want to destroy the country.
Unless someone literally draws down on my family or friends there is nothing worth using profanity, casting aspersions, making fun of names (there is NEVER a reason to make fun of someone’s name, ever) or being anything less than respectful. President Reagan would have never stooped to the childishness of ‘demoncrat’, calling them ‘the Democrat party’ or using asinine formulations like ‘Obummer’. Not that the left doesn’t have more of their share of childish losers, but we can’t clean that house.
I hope everybody here had a happy Saint Patrick’s.
Ha!
I ate there on my 1st visit to DC years ago.
Looks like they’ve moved to Alexandria.
I once saw the 4th of July fireworks while sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Monument.
Unbelievable experience. I and 500,000 friends and Americans took in the great expanse of the reflecting ponds before us, with the Washington Monument and Congress as back drop.
Beautiful for seeing “The Wall” on my left, as well the White House and the Jefferson Memorial on my right as we screamed, Ooed and Awed at the spectacular show.
Only a real American would see this, at that venue and cry. Doesn’t matter if you are with friends who are Democrats either. Just an amazing place to celebrate the birth of our country and the greatest nation on earth.
Saw the fireworks 4 times and cried every time. Just the best and everyone was a true American on that evening.
Afterward, I had to walk all the way back to Arlington, Virginia to my hotel.
The joke is better in person but, I literally got up, went behind the Lincoln Monument, walked across the Arlington Memorial Bridge to my hotel.
When I tell the joke in person I get the usual “How far was that?!”
Of course, it’s maybe a mile.
Anyway “HAPPY SAINT PATRICK’S DAY!” and “Hail to Ronald Reagan” who, in my book, is my favorite President.
Candor, determination, indomitable and humor were hallmarks of him I admired.
