Small amounts were being charged on credit cards and later replaced with no comment from the credit card companies.

Liz and I have been warning freepers for years about how dangerous many non profits are, and how they fund left wingers in local elections to national elections, often intentionally.

Something is rotten here.

We just had some id fraud with our Cabela’s Visa Card. Lifelock missed it, but the CVC picked it up and stopped the fraud.

We have the feeling that the card info was gotten when we used it to check into a well rated resort inn.

Master Card has been excellent with my wife’s card and one of our sons. They spotted the frauds starting with small stuff, in all cases supposedly small $5 donations to faux non profits. Then, they escalated to bigger purchases. It is amazing on all three scams, how fraud was used to purchase electronic stuff with my card, my wife’s and son’s cards.

I think LL is best on new credit applications for loans, etc. My bank notifies me of anything, etc. but for my credit charges, I use AMEX since 1981...they are excellent at fraud detection and response if I need it.

The best thing I’ve found, however, is to check credit accounts, bank accounts, etc. daily if you can online....I’ve done this for years.

Thanks for the heads up. I suggest keeping only two credit cards-- one with a low rate of interest in case you need to use it for short term financing; one which earns rewards for everyday purchases paid off monthly.

It would be nice if one card did both, but it doesn't seem to happen that way.

Anyway, if you check only two cards on-line regularly and deal only with reputable banks (not Bank of America types), you should be able to nip this kind of stuff in the bud.
