If we look to the Scriptures for an example of shepherds failing to teach we see the ancient nation of Israel.
Jesus basically said Nicodemus was incompetent as a teacher and later that the kingdom would be taken from Israel given “to a nation bearing its fruits”.

If the majority of Catholic practice what the Catholic church condemns as a grave sin then the shepherds have failed to teach and lead the sheep.

Why would Jesus NOT say to those given much, “Look! Your house is abandoned to you” and suffer the same outcome as Israel did in 70 a.d.?
