Let’s not allow the left to shift the debate to social issues.

We need to have our argument for social conservatism strong and ready.

But we need to reject that debate and focus on the economy.

It was the economy that the left ran on in 2006 and 2008. Obammie the Commie used the “failed economic policies of the last eight years” as the reason Americans should vote him into the White House. He said if he can’t fix the economy, he should not be re-elected.

Not only has he not fixed the economy, he adopted those “failed economic policies of the last 8 years,” put them on steroids, and has made the economy much worse than it was. Worse than this, of course, is the fact that in making the economy worse, he has used (abused) the usual avenues of relief that the economic wizards usually have at their disposal, taking shots in the dark and wasting that ammunition, so we have even less recourse that we can follow now.

Obammie and his economic socialists need to be removed from office NOW!! in order to protect our children from a lifetime of bondage to the bankers and to those who loaned this selfish generation so much money simply to buy votes.

Exactly. How’s this?:

[....snip....]

So, how should a Republican presidential candidate have answered that question? Like this:

“If you’re asking me what I personally believe about birth control, that’s a private issue and it’s none of anybody’s business. People have different moral views about birth control, and they can make their own individual choices in private. It’s a free country.

“But if you’re asking me if the federal government should be involved in contraception, my answer is simple. Barack Obama says it should – he’s the one who wants the federal government to stick its nose into birth control. I say it shouldn’t – you want it, you get it yourself. Tell President Obama that he should repeal the new federal rules, because birth control is none of the federal government’s business.

Even people who don’t agree with social conservatives on moral issues and aren’t especially interested in religious liberty can understand the appeal of freedom and the downsides of having the federal government insert itself into these issues. If Republicans can’t carry a simple message like that, we shouldn’t be in this business
