Wouldn’t hurt. I am of the opinion that voters seeking a president generally are not enthused about going with the lowest common denominator, if all things being philosophically equal they will instead opt for the more refined candidate. That is, however, with all things being equal.
I tend to agree, but the public is fickle on these things.
I myself found that I had a prejudice toward Texas vernacular when I moved here.
Some of the smartest people I know had the heaviest twang.
