I live in Texas and I just received my yearly tax bill. It includes taxes for the city, the county, the local school district,
the Community College, the county Hospital district, the river authority and the flood fund. There are no taxes for the
University of Texas, or A&M, or Baylor or Texas Tech or any of the other hundreds of colleges in Texas. They are funded with sales taxes
private endowments and numerous other ways. Google one of the state colleges and look at the funding.

Austin CC asking for more money... (yes, property taxes are mentioned)

“Austin Community College’s local property taxes are at the maximum rate approved by voters in the district.”

Our property taxes subsidize our community colleges.

"The property tax remains the major source of funding for local governments in Texas. While most local school districts count on state aid to help fund their budgets and the vast majority of cities also levy a local option sales tax, the property tax continues to play a significant role in funding the public services provided by these units of government, as well as counties, community colleges and a variety of special districts."
