I live in Texas and I just received my yearly tax bill. It includes taxes for the city, the county, the local school district,
the Community College, the county Hospital district, the river authority and the flood fund. There are no taxes for the
University of Texas, or A&M, or Baylor or Texas Tech or any of the other hundreds of colleges in Texas. They are funded with sales taxes
private endowments and numerous other ways. Google one of the state colleges and look at the funding.
(I don’t know how to do the ‘tiny URL’)
Austin CC asking for more money... (yes, property taxes are mentioned)
“Austin Community Colleges local property taxes are at the maximum rate approved by voters in the district.”

U of Texas and Texas A&M are funded by OIL! Lots of it, out here near Midland.
