Is the British Royal Navy aiming for Michelle Obama?

Are the British finally planning revenge for that whole American Revolution dust-up from a couple centuries ago? First Lady Michelle Obamas security detail is apparently taking no chances. According to the Daily Mail, a British Royal Navy vessel was ordered to turn its onboard guns because they were parked pointing toward at a hotel Mrs. Obama was staying in during her recent visit to South Africa.
Fearing the First Lady might be in danger, minders ordered the captain of the HMS Edinburgh stationed in Cape Town, South Africa, to switch them away from her five-star suite.
The U.S. agents have since been accused of overreacting after it emerged the Sea Dart missiles were, in fact, loaded with blanks having been used during a ceremony in honour of a sailor who had died.
Former Royal Navy officer Mike Critchley told the Daily Mirror: This is typical American Secret Service going over the top.
I would have thought that they could trust their British allies to not put a missile through the bedroom window of the First Lady. It is unfortunate that this happened at an extremely sad time for the ship.

Another Obama swipe at the British. Will we ever regain our international standing?

a ceremony in honour of a sailor who had died. The Royal Navy was focused on a patriotic woman who loved her country.
Michelle Obama was the furthest thing from their minds.

I would like to know by what authority did the US Secret Service do this? This was in South Africa. This was a Royal Navy (UK) war ship. The CO of that British vessel answers to the Admiralty of the Royal Navy, NOT the US Secret Service. Had this happened in the US things might have been a little different, but since it was in South Africa the US Secret Service has not standing in the Line of Command relative to a British Warship. Had I been the CO of that British ship I would have told the US Secret Service agents to go "pound sand." And, if that agent gave me the "attitude" that the reports indicate he gave to the CO of that ship, I would have ordered my ship's security to arrest him and throw him in the brig.

Truly. As if the British Royal Navy would even consider wasting a perfectly good ammo. Protecting her must be one bitter assignment.

Not Operation Churchill, thought that is a good one.
Let’s call it “Operation Lard-Ass”.

Does Her Highness Moochelle EVER stay at anything LESS than a five-star hotel at the expense of the American taxpapyer?
Couldn’t they find her a room at the local Motel 6?

Let’s see, light-up that prodigious broad beam of Moochieâs (what a radar reflector!) with the Type 909 illumination radar and smack it with a Sea Dart’s 50-pound blast-fragmentation warhead. Finish off the remainder with some 4.5-inch (114mm) rounds from the Mk 8 Mod 1 gun. No mess, fuss, bother, and no residue.

This would have been a request, not an order. The use of the word ‘order’ is a journalist’s mistaken or inflammatory misuse of correct English. Of course, if the Captain of HMS Edinburgh had refused such a request, London might have had something to say, and then an order would have been forthcoming...
