A Black Liberal cyber friend wrote in commentary, "the GOP will never nominate a Black". This is a profound statement and I am sure he thinks it is the truth and it may well be, but I have heard many Conservatives on talk radio express the opposite opinion.
Let me start by saying Conservatives and Republicans may swim in the same pond, but since Reagan, there have been some major differences. A Republican will consider a Conservative part of the GOP, but many Conservatives are looking at the profligate and capitulating behavior of leading GOP members in Washington with indignation, while wondering if their voices are heard and if they may as well be whispering to a typhoon. Consequently, with resignation, many Conservatives only consider themselves Republicans by default.
I liked Cain the first time I heard him speak on the radio, almost two years ago. I knew he was a Black by the sound of his deep commanding voice, but the color of his hide wasn't important to me; he was a man with a message and I liked the message. No, Obama hasn't soured me toward Blacks as leaders, but I will never trust an undocumented teleprompter reader again during my time on earth, regardless of pigmentation.
Herman Cain is a Conservative and understands the machinations of business from the bottom up. If you have read of his techniques in turning companies around, you will realize this is a man who isn't too proud to work next to the lowest employee in order to learn the nature of a company from the bottom up.
He could have easily been an elitist and ridden around in a limousine, hiring capable people and demanding results, but he is a man of the people, a man with humility. A leader with humility will have a greater chance of pulling our country together and uniting us under common goals. Electing another polarizing personality will only increase this festering animosity in America. Our last three presidents have all been polarizing leaders and each has managed to out perform his predecessor in this counter productive ability that causes Americans to dislike each other.
There is a long way to go in the nomination process, but Cain doesn't seem to get a fair shake from the media. He is there and still in the race; the others are displaying their true natures and Cain may still have a chance, even though he is in the back of the pack. The cards are being played and I will back the winner, but I still like Cain.
He receives no visible support from Black America and the Congressional Black Caucus is only trivializing itself by insulting him and other Black Conservatives. Yet, they may be hastening their own premature demise; since, we may see America's greatest Black leaders emerge as Conservatives. The formula is there for the right man and if it happens, the Democrat Party's suffocating hold on the neck of Black America will be over. Potential Black leaders, who are ready to pick up the reins of traditional Liberalism stand a hundred deep, but Black Conservatives have a different message, a message offering an alternative to collective entitlement based on race.

When a liberal implies Republicans are racists, I tell him I voted for Allen Keyes long before he voted for Obama. Then I imply he was a racist longer than I was.
Cain has a great resume - I couldn’t care less what color he is - he could be aqua
for all I care.
But, the rats care - A LOT! He is their worst nightmare.
I reserve the right to despise white people as well as black(asians) and even hispanics..
Has nothing at all to do with their races..
I do believe that Herman Cain would make an excellent President and is just the kind of leader we need at this time!
I realize its probably best that it never happened, but keep in mind that the GOP nomination probably was Colin Powell’s for the taking back in 1996.

I do that whenever I have the chance. It usually leaves them sputtering something about Keyes not being a “real” black man. I can’t wait to see Obama feigning an “African-American accent” in debates with Herman to try to prove he is the more genuine Black man.
This is what liberals have done with their wanting-it-both-ways policies.

Darden angered Cochran when he asked Heidstra if he (Heidstra) had told someone that one of the voices sounded Black. Cochran emphatically objected to the question and Ito Sustained it. However, Heidstra continued speaking. That led to Ito yelling at him to "Wait! Wait!"
The jury was then ordered to leave and Darden defended his line of questioning by pointing out that an aquaintance of Heidstra's quoted him (Heidstra) as saying one of the voices sounded Black and like O. J. Simpson.
Cochran angrily responded: "I resent that statement. You can't tell by somebody's voice whether they sound Black. That's a racist statement."

I do believe that Herman Cain has had two rounds of cancer,not a safe bet no matter what color one is.
My liking for Cain has nothing to do with race.
When liberals call me a racist, are they trying to convert me? Or are they trying to keep other liberals from being converted?
Cain wants to reform the tax code, he says, but IT WILL BE REVENUE NEUTRAL. That is a direct quote. This is D.C. Speak for “We will never cut taxes; tax revenues must never, ever, be reduced by any “tax reform.”
No it doesn’t. It means skin in the game.
Cain’s tax ideas are ridiculous, and he’s already on his second tax plan of the campaign.
And anyone can drop dead of a heart attack at any moment. If his doctors say he is healthy now, what else would you want?

Quite frankly I don’t think Bush or Clinton strove to be polarizing.
It was, and is, the public who is polarized. The country was united after 9/11 and the Libs/Dems made sure to destroy that unity.
Obama just dislikes America and Americans so, yes, he is very polarizing.
At this time I don’t see any way forward where there will be any comity in this country. You can see by looking at Wisconsin how the left’s minions will react when their privileges are taken away. Yet we cannot afford those privileges any more.
Illegal aliens are NOT going to get a general amnesty, so we can expect them to riot also.
It’s going to be an ugly few years. No republican should expect to “unite” people, the MSM will be sure that doesn’t happen. He or She will just have to find a way to do what needs to be done despite the calumny that will come his or her way.
For a lesson in how this is done please study Rudy Giuliani’s early years as NYC mayor. He brought that city back from the brink while every day being called a fascist and worse by all the finest people.
But, in the end, he won.
And, in the very, very end, he went out respected by all.
So, it can be done. And quite frankly I don’t see Giuliani as some kind of political genius, but he had determination and he did not give a hoot what the NY Times, etc. said about him.
“revenue neutral” that’s what he says. His words. Why are “conservative” more interested in schemes to make collecting taxes form us more efficient? Why not cutting government back to its legitimate size then it wouldn’t much matter how the taxes are collected because we won’t need much. Cut government, cut spending. Then cut government “revenue”. Tell me about a plan that decreases revenue.
Revenue Neutral means lower income tax and more drug dealer tax.
Get Caesar back to 20% and we can be fine. 36% of GDP is bullshit.
Back going into the 1996 election, when he was still a Republican (not a RINO), there was a lot of interest in General Colin Powell. Had he chosen to run at that time, he would have been the been the nominee and Republicans would have fallen all over themselves to vote for him. He would have also attracted a lot of support from Independents and Conservative Democrats.
But he didn’t run. His choice, obviously, but had he run, he would have won.
Now, in hindsight, and having seen how his policies and opinions have developed over the years, I can say that is probably a good thing, but I still wonder. Cancelling out the last four years of Clinton would have been worth doing in its own right.
If Powell had been on his second term on Sept. 11, 2001, instead of Secretary of State, what things would he have done differently in response? Again, we’ll never know, but it’s worth thinking about. His ironclad military background would have ensured he did not make some of the blunders Bush made.
