Ron Kraft walked into a Harbor Beach Community Schools classroom a couple of years ago and found a male teacher holding a male student in a headlock. The Harbor Beach superintendent said an investigation found that the teacher had been giving both male and female students kisses in class, with some of the students only reluctantly agreeing. Kraft said a male student confronted the teacher about the inappropriate behavior and that the teacher responded by putting the student in the headlock just as Kraft entered the room.
The teacher was not fired. Instead, he was one of four teachers that the district has paid a total of $205,019 since 2009 to get them to leave rather than going through the tenure review process. Kraft is critical of the process, saying hes been advised that it will cost the district at least $100,000 to go through the proceedings for a single teacher. He said his districts only alternative to the process is a three-day suspension without pay.
Tenure is granted to teachers after a four-year probationary period. Michigan state law currently mandates that once a public school teacher is given tenure, the teacher cannot be demoted or dismissed without judgment from the Tenure Commission or a settlement between the teacher and school district. The process for removing a tenured teacher can take several years and many costly legal steps.
The way the tenure laws are at the moment
it is to the advantage of the people who are the perpetrators, Kraft said. Who is that set up to protect? Our students or our adults? Its adult-centered all the way. Thats a huge problem in the educational culture.
The tenure law has to change. No doubt about it. Its too expensive.

This is one of the times I feel a student has every right to have put the perv teacher in a headlock. Or punched his lights out. And a female giving a kick to the privates would be justified. Paying this teacher is just silly. Each student he kissed should sue & get some of that money back. This truly makes no sense to me.
So ... Bill Murrayesque !
Noogies, indeed!
Recalling the guys I went to high school with; we would have given him a soap party. Or worse.
the teachers union protects these pervs

Thus guy is a high school teacher. The kids he did this to are in high school. Now that is no excuse but if this were a female teacher doing this to high school boys, posters would be joking about it and thinking there was nothing wrong, not calling the teacher a pervert.
No teacher—male or female—should be having sex, kissing or doing anything of the sort with any student of any age, period. Whether its allegedly “voluntary”, “reluctantly” or against the student’s will, it shouldn’t happen.
It’s not just students, Principals are loath to discipline tenured teachers who harass non tenured teachers. If you are non tenured and complain about a tenured teachers behavior, then your contract is not renewed, while the tenured teacher continues on in employment. Gotta love the system.
What is the purpose of tenure?
I had a teacher try to touch me in the dark room of the Photo Lab. He was heard screaming after a swift kick to his you know where & my then b/f gave him 2 black eyes off school property. My parents complained & nothing was done. I was called a liar until other girls spoke up but he kept his job.
He needed his eyes blacked once a month until he got the message and left town.
I was seriously thinking of tossing chemicals on him as other girls warned me about him. Back then I was was more afraid of the principal & my parents. My b/f gave him a good beating & I passed the class with a 98 which I did not deserve but I wasn’t going to argue the grade. I wanted out of his class.
