The last thing Congresswoman Michele Bachmann should want as she considers launching a campaign for President is that she get dragged down into the gutter at the outset by a political consultant Ed Rollins who makes her look petty because he works for her.
President Ronald Reagan, who Republican candidates often quote, frowned upon Republican candidates trashing Republican candidates. What Rollins said that reflects upon Congresswoman Bachmann certainly is not the worst but it was gratuitous and not responding to an insult. This early tactic (before the candidate even makes it official) is a strong indicator of what is to come from him. Is this how Representative Bachmann wants start her campaign..or run her campaign . with a guy who just cant help himself? and worse, a guy that makes her look petty?
A campaign for President should be about the candidates positions on issues and we have very important issues to discuss and debate. Rollins start with Congresswoman Bachmann makes him look like a has been resurrecting old tactics. She wont look Presidential with him. She will look strong if she dumps him now and says not my campaign.
Rollins might be amused by his own remarks or think he is a big tough guy but I doubt Congresswoman Bachmann is impressed with him she no doubt remembers the campaign boost she got from Rollins, target, Governor Sarah Palin. I have also spoken to Congresswoman Bachmann in the green room at Fox many times and she says she is passionate about the issues. She is strong and determined about the issues. This does not mean she should not fire back at someone who fires at her but does she want to start the fights?
Let me repeat and emphasize: what Rollins said is NOT NOT NOT the worst..

Mail, sir. V/r.
the ancient greeks would vote into exile for ten years any politician who had become too powerful. This was to ensure they held no political office or influence.
Perhaps we need something similar. Term limits or a policy that after a politician leaves office for ANY reason, there would be a COMPLETE ban from any government work, working as a lobbyist or for a lobbyist firm, or any crony capitalist type activity. no dog catcher, no party chair, committee chair etc.

Agreed. Anything she does now will seem insincere.
Agreed, 100%.
A FINE plan, IMHO: I’m torn between, “Let the people elect whoever they want” and the basic assumption of the Founders that nobody should ever be a career legislator. I come down pretty heavily on the latter side.
Palin, I knew Reagan. You're no Reagan.
Ed Rollins on Sarah Palin quitting: It was a disaster and insulting
Ed Rollins Says Timing of Palin Resignation "Suspicious" - Video 7/3/09
Palin should follow Gingrich's advice -- and so should Newt
Here's all of his stuff at CNN:
She didn’t do it for Romney. Why would she? It only made her look bad. It didn’t help Romney, it didn’t help her. It helped Sarah Palin.
In addition, she is tea party to the core and Romney is anti-tea party to the core. She despises global warming, Romneycare etc and fights these every day with every breath in the Congress. It is easy to see that she is simply politically stupid when it comes to running in a national political race.
You are among those who come on these threads and think if you post enough times that she is doing this for Romney hoping to be his VP, that somehow that’s going to make it true.
Clue: if you post it a trillion times it will prove nothing.
I don’t know enough about Rollins to comment on him, but ALL conservative candidates should COMPLETELY AVOID any sort of bareknuckle campaign against each other.
Think of how much it will help the nominee to have run a clean, positive campaign. It makes business sense.
Never, ever say anything even unpleasant about other candidates. Thinking people want to hear debate, not arguing, name-calling, etc.; the rest of us will also certainly enjoy such a campaign once we see it.
Notice how some successful sports franchises make a concerted effort to have their players appear professional and positive and team-oriented. Take a hint, politicians !
Hasn’t Rollins been kissing liberal butt on CNN for years, as the nominal republican who tells the lefties what they want to hear? Having nothing to do with Palin, I can’t support someone who relies on Rollins.
She owns this mess and is done.
Few House members go through staff like Michele Bachmann. She has had four chiefs of staff in a little over six years.
I agree with Bachmann on 95% of issues, but she is not presidential material. The Rollins appointment proves it. Why not just select Steve Schmidt?

Even before Rollins, you've been attacking her, smearing her as being a stalking horse for Romney all to puff up a mercurial celebrity candidate who has made no movement towards actually entering the race.
If your heroine is getting in, she better get to it in very short order. This is not a coronation, the nomination is not hers for the taking, she owes it to everyone to fight for it like a serous candidate. And if she isn't running, she owes it to the serious conservatives really in the race to make that clear.
The longer she dithers, the larger Romney's war chest will become and the weaker the conservative challenge to him will be. They need money for infrastructure, for a ground game against Romney and the time to put it in place.
Rollins said the same thing about Bachmann not too long ago:

This was an incredible misstep on her part, and I don't think that she can recover from it. Imho, it indicates a lack of character. I was looking at her as a possible VP choice for Palin, but now? I don't want her in the line of succession.
I agree 1000% Trish... you are dead on target.

Thanks, LLS. :)
Ed Rollins is a LOSER!!! DUMP HIM, Michelle.
