JOINT STATEMENT

On the issue of legalizing same-sex marriage, the Orthodox Jewish world speaks with one voice, loud and clear:
We oppose the redefinition of the bedrock relationship of the human family.
The Torah, which forbids homosexual activity, sanctions only the union of a man and a woman in matrimony. While we do not seek to impose our religious principles on others, we believe the institution of marriage is central to the formation of a healthy society and the raising of children. It is our sincere conviction that discarding the historical definition of marriage would be detrimental to society.
Moreover, we are deeply concerned that, should any such redefinition occur, members of traditional communities like ours will incur moral opprobrium and may risk legal sanction if they refuse to transgress their beliefs. That prospect is chilling, and should be unacceptable to all people of good will on both sides of this debate.
The integrity of marriage in its traditional form must be preserved.

More power to them. And the ones who infuriate me are the ones who say the New Testament makes the Old Testament and that very little was said against faggotry in the New Testament. The Old Testament is as relative today as it was 3000 years ago.
Every Memorial Day weekend, 50,000+ queers of both varieties descend upon our town and completely hijack our beaches. It is absolutely disgusting. It is inappropriate to see a man and woman all over themselves at the beach, much less two men or two women. And the fag flags are everywhere.
The one good thing about it is for the last 6 years our city council has voted against letting them get permits for their little fag parades. Our community is very conservative and very family oriented and there is simply no place for that depraved, disgusting behavior.
As a born and raised Catholic, I simply cannot see how anyone can call themselves a committed Catholic and vote for a democrat. The Catholic Church has five “Non-Negotiables”; gay marriage, abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research and human cloning. All of which are supported by democrats.
The problem is we have too many “cafeteria Catholics” who feel they can pick and choose amongst the things they will support and believe in. If you favor ANY of the Non-Negotiables, as far as I am concerned, you need to leave the Catholic faith, because you’re a poser and a hypocrite. And we all know what Jesus said about the hypocrites and their fates.
These aren’t those Jews. The more a group observes its faith in a traditional manner, the less likely they are to accept “gay marriage” and more likely to reject liberalism in general.

The New Testament also specifically names and decries homosexual behavior. It is not limited to Old Testament writings.
Of course, Scripture supports Scripture.
It’s also about Christians, and it is not just about voting democrats either. There are plenty of Republicans (Think Arnold Schwarzenegger) that are just as on board as any liberal in supporting same-sex marriage. Why plenty of Christians would support some politicians who favor abortion so highly I do not know, but maybe perhaps it is about buying into the environmental/climate change mantra a little too far.

I would add leftist Republican or RINO to that as well. Giuliani and Schwarzenegger are perhaps as liberal as you can get on some of these issues.

I have noticed both among our Catholic circles as well as among other Christian circles, there is the feeling that you can accept a dose of abortion when taking some candidate who believes and wishes to fight back against climate change and is a perfect greeny. I have seen plenty of Christians argue that supposedly some candidates are good for environmental causes. But then again, the ideas of some of these environmental issues are full of red herrings if you ask me. Also, certain proponents on some of these issues are nuts. But I really feel that somehow the connection between yes, humans being responsible for the Earth gets a little twisted by politics quite often.
I am fine - what is wrong with them. We keep voting for people that support them and they keep voting for democrats that have not. hold them accountable not me.
I think 80% of Jews vote Democrat (overall) – obviously Orthodox Jews are more conservative and have their heads screwed on. In Israel, however, the polling is reversed.
I can see why people are perplexed. After WWII why would anyone vote for a pro-appeasement President? He has thrown Israel under the bus.
68% is better than nothing. As for liberal Jews they (like liberal Christians) tend to look more self-hating and appeasing in general, but are the first to scream victim when attacked.
I can see why people get angry. I’m against all heterosexual and homosexual parades that sexualize children (especially in public spaces because it normalizes it in my view).
