So please excuse my doubts when I say Obama's order to kill not capture smells fishy to me. You don't order the outright assassination of a man who holds so many secrets that can be vital to the security of your country when you have a good opportunity to capture him - unless you have your own secrets related to that man and want him to be silent.

This guy is spot on!

Excuse me for being technical, but isn’t the president ordering an assassination illegal? Don’t get me wrong, I am all for the hit. But if this had been McCain, or Bush, or Palin, I imagine that we would be hearing a lot more about the legality of this.

Another “What if this was Bush” story. You would here countless comments from the Left that Bush was covering up something by killing not capturing.

0bama didn’t order a damn thing. He wouldn’t make a decision one way or the other so Panetta had to give the go order.

Sorry

OBL was an Outlaw in every sense of the word.

In historical legal systems, an outlaw is a person declared as outside the protection of the law. In pre-modern societies, this takes the burden of active persecution of a criminal from the authorities. Instead, the criminal is withdrawn all legal protection, so that anyone is legally empowered to persecute or kill them. Outlawry was thus one of the harshest penalties in the legal system, since the outlaw had only himself to protect himself, but it also required no enforcement on the part of the justice system. In early Germanic law, the death penalty is conspicuously absent, and outlawing is the most extreme punishment, presumably amounting to a death sentence in practice.

And

In the common law of England, a “Writ of Outlawry” made the pronouncement Caput gerat lupinum (”Let his be a wolf’s head,” literally “May he bear a wolfish head”) with respect to its subject, using “head” to refer to the entire person (cf. “per capita”) and equating that person with a wolf in the eyes of the law: Not only was the subject deprived of all legal rights of the law being outside of the “law”, but others could kill him on sight as if he were a wolf or other wild animal.

Bush should have declared OBL an Outlaw on Day 1, posted the reward and let NAture take it’s course.

Obama cannot legally assassinate anyone, not while he is an usurper.

Or have we forgotten the fact he failed to qualify as POTUS?

Yeah I have been wondering what secrets were lost when Osama died.

It makes more sense to me to capture him and interrogate him at least at first. Get all the info you can from him before putting him to death.
