Black Jack Pershing he ain't Black Jack Pershing didn't have to to try to fight with the same stupid rules of engagement Petraeus is stuck with either.
I'd say loosen up the ROE an then we all fire up a Koran or two.

Black Jack Pershing he IS. Pershing spent a lot of time working with the Moro chieftains, establishing good relations, which paid off when fighting the Moro jihadis. It wasn't all threats of being buried with pork. Petraeus is doing the same thing with the Afghan leaders. The pastor set his job back and he has the right to say it didn't help him.

The General simply doesn't understand Americans or Moslems.
At his age it's probably too late for him to learn.
Now, regarding Islam, it has a substantial percentage of members (about 99%) who refuse to join in with the rest of us concerning "tolerance". In fact, they are killing people for burning their little woodpulp idols.
Best bet with these guys is to KEEP THEM OUT OF THE WEST.

No he isn’t. Petraeus is a General in a very fattened Army. Pershing was a General in a very lean — even scrawny — Army.
Pershing had no snake pit of a Pentagon to report back to.
