effective steps that will keep guns out of the hands of the criminals, fugitives, people with serious mental illness, and others who have no business possessing a gun and who are prohibited by laws on the books from owning a gun

Barry... you moron... there are laws on the books that are being broken BECAUSE THEY ARE CRIMINALS!

What good is your silly little focus group going to do?

Though official talks have not yet begun, the Obama administration is expected to aim mostly at such low-hanging fruit, leaving issues like the legality of the high-capacity magazine... to remain unaddressed for the time being.

I got news for you liberty-raping, liberal fascist jackboots - it doesn't matter whether you address it or not, because we'll own what we damn well please. You can shove AWB II and firearm registration up your ass. Molon Labe, you SOB's.

If the Republicans go along with this they deserve to loose in 2012, this is nothing but the next step in universal gun registration which will then lead eventually to gun confiscation. I expect the O to try doing this using an executive order if he can’t get congress to go along.

Guess Giffords may be making an appearance soon...The “O” seems to be stting the stage for her being shown to drive sympathy much like Brady.

All for “common sense” gun laws/sarc.

Including around 80 percent of gun owners, think that a simple background check for every purchase includes next to zero burden for law-abiding citizens and can save countless live,” said Mark Glaze, the executive director of the coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

Based on what fraudulent poll data?

Consider the source – sounds like Prime Grade A Bull Cookies!!

which allows even pistols to fire more than 30 shots without reloading,

Make no mistake, that’s the number they like to toss out but in reality they want to reduce that to 10 rounds, then 5 then..

Close the “gun show loophole?” I wish someone would close the “birth certificate loophole.”

The first thing that will come out of this is a demand that EVERYTHING must be registered. They can't control private sales any other way.

If they get registration the excuses to confiscate guns will be easy to manufacture.

Never believe for an instant that these people are dealing in good faith!

Gun and ammo sales have been at record levels for several years now, one of the few economic areas of strength ...

Any hint that 0 is “starting talks” should send sales through the roof, providing more economic stimulation than any other policy from this (mis)Administration.

As long as Congress and the courts continue to kowtow to this tyrannical bastard he'll have no inclination to stop.

When things get tough for the O-Man, he goes to play a round of golf or heads off on vacation...learn from that.

“It was a promising sign that the president understands that 86 percent of the public, including around 80 percent of gun owners, think that a simple background check for every purchase includes next to zero burden for law-abiding citizens and can save countless live,” said Mark Glaze, the executive director of the coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Well them Mr. Glaze, you certainly shouldn’t object to passing a simple background check to enjoy other rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights either; say for instance freedom of speech?

“........“It was a promising sign that the president understands that 86 percent of the public, including around 80 percent of gun owners, think that a simple background check......” BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH........

Stupid statement. As though Obama really cares, and really is trying to work something out FOR the people, rather than do something TO the people.

He’s a Commie, and we can’t lose sight of that.
