Like any normal nine-year-old, meeting Mickey Mouse and friends at Disneyland would have turned Micah Strachan's birthday into the fairytale he had only ever dreamed of.

But a surprise trip, arranged by his grandparents, was cruelly dashed when U.S. immigration officials turned him away - because they claimed he was a flight risk.

I don’t think the suspicion is that he’s a terrorist, but that if he is allowed into the country, he might not leave.

I have a hard time finding sympathy for a kid from a family able to span the globe for mouse fun, when several million American kids already in Califa can not afford to get into the Anaheim park.

He wasn't denied by Customs on arrival. He was denied an entry visa by Dept. of State.

I'm no expert, but I don't think he would need a visa if he held a British passport.

Why that lil kid could have recked untold havoc on Disneyland or even Disneyworld. Just think about it, cutting in lines,, spilling soda pop and leaving chewing gum wrappers on the ground. Maybe even screaming with delight. And And And he possibly, could have, maybe overstayed his visa.

I agree 100%. The grandparents seem to think that they can just whisk their grandkid off to a foreign country any time they want without a valid passport.

We're taking our kid on a Disney Cruise. We got him a valid US passport 2 years before the trip.

Otherwise, anyone from any country could enter the USA at any time on the pretense that they're "going to Disney".

The mix-up is Disney LAND which is in California, and Disney WORLD, which is in Florida. I always remember the difference because I worked for a rental car company for two years, and WDW is one of the abbreviations for Orlando rental car locations.
